got my halflytely......countdown begins.....

Postby happyass » 22 Feb 2007, 18:15

ah, well i am not super anxious to get the colonoscopy but alas, my turn to go get my arse checked out has come.......
i hope that during the procedure there is no retear or ill-effect to the good fissure........
of course, i am going to be puking BMs on sunday so i am a bit uneasy about how much possible diarrhea will come out....
and not to mention, i won't be able to eat much that day until monday after 12 pm..... :monkey: (okay, this monkey really looks like a pig! Image )
it's interesting this bowel prep kit...it has 4 tablets that will create the need to BM within 1 to 6 hours and then you take in the 2 liters of liquid after your first bowel movement or 6 hours whichever comes first, and then you get to crap all day long.....until there is no more crap to crap!
i am :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Oh Gosh, that sounds awful! I will keep you in my prayers that everything turns out fine and that you don't irritate the fissure at all. I must have missed reading it in one of your posts but have you had this done before? What is it that they are looking for? Is it the same CRS that knows about your fissure so he can tread lightly if that is possible?
Do you have someone who can go with you and get you home okay?
We'll be thinking of you!

I had to do the "go lytly" thing when they supposedly removed a hemorrhoid last August. Man, it was like drinking clear 40-weight oil.
I don't envy you, buddy! But youse got to do what youse got to do.
The fasting was no fun either. By 5 or 6 PM I was ready to eat mudpies-on-brick. But eeriely, my body was CALM and relaxed just before the surgery--I think the combination of fasting and colon-cleansing actually created the calm. My pulse was, like, 45 just before they hit me with the gas!
Let me know if you have a similar experience, Gareth. I'll be thinking of you on Sunday/Monday. :bounce:

ah, so hugh you have had happy hour with halflytely have you?

lecia, yes, this is the same CRS that i have seen since 2005. so i am hoping he will be gentle......he showed me how thin the camera/wire is for the colonoscopy.
it is the examination of the large and small intestine and of course your rectum. although i am not concerned with bleeding stuff, the doctor thought it would be good to have done since i have had the fissures for a while...maybe rule out other possible reasons why healing took so long, rule out that there is no other bleeding reasons, and well, since i have been on hiv medication off and on since like 1997 i want to make sure that i have a healthy colon.
you never know what long term medication can do to your body.....i know the meds made me constipated....but in reality, this fissure was a result from eating too much roast one night, breaking a spell of 6-8 months of not eating meat!!!!!

Good luck Gareth - I'll be thinking of you too on Sunday/Monday. I've never had the dubious pleasure of a colonoscopy, but hope it goes well for you (no pun intended! Image ) Do keep us all posted.

Gareth, my best advice to you is, if you have a laptop and some movies, set that sucker up in the bathroom, have everything you need right there, and just plan on sitting for quite awhile. Thats what I had to do when I had my colonoscopy. I drank a gallon of laxative...literally...and i slept on the bathroom floor. Not my best experience, but what can I say? The movies helped. I'l'l be thinking of you.

hi kate....
thanks for the suggestions....
i haven't eaten anything despite watching food network earlier this morning, going shopping for groceries to prepare for something good to eat when i get done with this tomorrow, and well, i even bought 2 fish at the pet store!
i started the 4 laxative pills that stimulate the large intestine at 3 pm.
it's now 542 pm and i started to cramp like 10 minutes ago!!! Image Image
i am waiting for the big poop! (it's like waiting for the great pumpkin, charlie brown!!! Image )
so either i get a poop before 6 hours or i have to wait 6 hours before chugging the 2 liter pitcher of the other laxatives for the smaller intestine....
i wish i could eat something now!!!!!
