Question about these sharp pains i'm experiencing

Postby MgoZ » 12 Jun 2013, 17:24

Hello!
I am 21, have not been prescribed any medication.
My doctor told me I have an anal fissure, but I don't bleed nor does it hurt when I have a bowl movement. All I have and am experiencing are these extremely painful stabbing pains which last for 2 seconds but leaves me in soreness for 15-30 minutes. They happen randomly like right as I pee, right before I pass gas, when I sit, or when I walk.
Most of these pains I experience is when gas is building up in my rectum.
For the first two weeks I had these stabbing pains the ENTIRE day, which would happen at random times, and last I  fall asleep at night.
This third week I have changed my diet and am now experiencing less of these stabbing pains, as in they are less frequent in occurrence. Before I would have 20+ instances of these pains, but this third week I get like 4-6 of them per day. However, they feel waaaaay more painful than before.
So my question is
Is this a sign of my anal fissure healing, or will I need medication or surgery?
Thanks for your time

MgoZ, I don't know if the pains your are experienced have to do with the fissure if you are not having any bleeding or pain with your BM.
I know that I used to have sharp pains on and off during the time my fissure was fresh, and with the pains I also have an urge to have a BM even when I didn't wanted too, but random pains were not isolated they were along with other discomfort, like irritation.
Does you feel any discomfort when you pass gas?

marg6043 : no I don't have any discomfort when passing gas but I can feel it moving down my rectum toward my anus and thats when i get a sharp pain, especially if it comes down in a large force. It's really weird in that it doesn't happen all the time when I pass gas.
I do feel soreness and a slight burning sensation near where my doctor said the cut is after a BM. I don't think it is anywhere near as severe as others that suffer with this problem.
Thanks

MgoZ  I got it, yes this one of the fissures side effects, the pressure built and when the gas pass over the fissure it causes the fissure to expand, I always said that it feels like gas passing over a paper cut, I recommend that you get the medication from the doctor, try that and see if you feel better, do not let the fissure get any worst, because the longer you wait to treat it the longer it will take to heal.
Surgery is always there and available if the fissure doesn't cure on its own, but it should always be the last thing, specially if your pain level and discomfort is not that great.
I healed my fissure within 12 months naturally, my was very painful but I was determined to see if I could heal naturally before going for surgery, the wait pay off.
Use Vaseline before you BMs to control irritation, do not use toilet paper but baby wipes without scent or alcohol, do sitz baths for the discomfort after a BM, avoid constipation or excessive diarrhea.
Read the forum on success stories is tons of good advise.
I wish you the best and read around in the board, is plenty of information that can help you cope with the fissure.

MgoZ, remember to keep posting on any problems or success, also don't forget to call the doctor for the medication and let us know how it is doing.
I am sure that soon will be more members to give you other advises on how to feel better while you wait for the cream and the healing to start.
Hopefully your fissure is not chronic yet, so your chances of healing will be faster.
