Re: Sharing my double fissurectomy & Botox

Update: day 7. So I'm hoping I've got some sort of routine with my BM (I've never been regular as clock work, despite trying the "trigger" things that other people seem to do i.e Coffee, raisins, wheetabix, oranges before 7 poop by 11. None of these work for me.
HAd my 4th BM. Not as soft as yesterday's, probably because I had a sandwich last night with a couple of Beef HulaHoops (2nd favourite after Chilli Sensations).
No splitting razor blade feeling as I didn't have to push much. Sat straight in a sitz and the pain subsided slightly. Now it feels like someone has booted me up the bum. (I've read that description of pain on here somewhere and it's exactly how it feels) like a size 9 football boot.
Taking Movicol when I wake up about 7:30. Hopefully a BM by 9. Have wheatabix and a probiotic drink at 10 with another Movicol. Drinking plenty of fluids.
Very. Very. Gassy. They get quite uncomfortable when trapped but no pain when they get out.
Not aware of Botox yet. How do I know when it's kicked in? Is it blindingly obvious when it does?

Hi WelshDF,
I just had Botox. No fissurectomy.
Yes, I am swollen everywhere down there, and certainly feel like I've been booted by a size 9 football boot... With studs on Image

Good to know OwMyBum (that you feel the same, not that yours feels like a size 9 boot too).
Currently lying with a hot water bottle. Seems to relax it all.

wow.. Bravo ! .. you are doing good !  I think you will be the first to kick this off in two weeks (that is, if you stay away from Beef HulaHoops and Chilli Sensations). hahahhha...   Image
Stay healed !
PS ..No, never had Perrenium issue.  Every single pain was felt around the back, before and after the surgery.  My fissure was long and posterior.

Update: day 7. Had 2 BMs today. Not much time to get to the toilet and luckily just fell out again. Straight onto a sitz. Still that pain of a butt kick. (Evidence is pointing to a Possible Fissure fairy - not a good one - I think she has size 9 with a wide foot - visual of suspect currently unobtainable).

Walked down to the GPs earlier today. Took me twice as long as the external fissure was stinging if I took large steps. Had to waddle a bit like Pingu. Then started to develop back pain from the way I had to walk. (Typical).
Doctor seemed incredibly sympathetic and signed me off for another week.  Gave me more Movicol but slightly a different version as it costs Ј2 less - called Laxido (hey whatever, it's free and orange flavour) - anyone tried this version.
2weeks off is a MUST. I was intending on going back to work 4 days after my surgery as I wasn't given any advice or guidance on what to expect. Boy was a wrong. 7 days post Op and the BM have a mind of their own. Luckily no queues for the toilet here. Aaaaalll mine.
I guess I'm doing good. No real pain apart from the "acute" fissures but that's to be expected. They're fresh wounds that need some rest & healing.

Hi there WDF so you've mastered the fissure shuffle walk!! My kids thinks its hilarious when I shuffle around cos my bum  hurts too much to walk properly, although fortunately I don't need to do that too often now. Great that your gp is sympathetic, I have a brilliant gp who has supported me through the past few years of fissure problems. I've had 4 weeks off work so far & she had signed me off for another 2 weeks saying that cos i'm still having post bm pain (much less than before) I should take the time to relax at home & let myself heal fully. My crs also told me to expect it to take 6 weeks to heal fully. I'm not due to see him again for another 6 weeks by which time I expect to be fully fit & well. My pain is easing gradually every few days or so I wish it would stop completely though!! I so long for a poo with out any pain afterwards!!
Like you I've struggled with keeping to a fissure friendly diet I just love all the things my fissure hates & I can't imagine spending the rest of my life without my red meat, cheese, coffee or alcohol!! But for now iam managing to keep clear of them, don't know if my resolve will hold strong once I'm healed though!!
Keep posting to let us know how your doing xxxxx

Update: Day 8. Waited in all day for a BM. Wanted to go to the supermarket to pick up some food supplies and also drop my sick note into work. Because I don't feel ready to drive yet (can barely walk in large steps) I asked my mum to take me. But low and behold, after fibre, loads of water, 3 Movicols I didn't go until 9pm. So what a waste of a day. Damn you bowels!

Anyway BM was good on the pain scale. Very soft like a 5-6 on the Bristol scale. No pushing, just let it fall out, then it started stinging a bit like the last few.
As soon as I wipe with "Andrex flushable Washlets" (another miracle product) then it reduces the pain slightly. Must be a cooling effect.
Straight onto a sitz (bidet as usual). Now I guess I'm ready to leave the house finally. My perenium is still quite swollen too - what the hell's all that about? Not so much of a boot up the bum feeling though. Guessing it was a smaller boot today from the fissure fairy.
Just wanted to thank you all for supporting me through this. There's something calming about being able to write all this down somewhere useful. There's so many people on here sharing ther stories and in a worse state than me, it's good to see so much 1st hand advice & support.

Fingers crossed the Botox is kicking in, still doesn't feel any different - but I guess it's different for everyone eh?
I'm very jealous of your 6 weeks off Jilly, I've never had 2 weeks off before to do nothing. I've run out of Dexter.
6 weeks must be daunting but I guess with kids to deal with I'm sure you're kept busy shuffling around after them.
Missing cheese. Missing coca cola. Missing crisps.
What about chocolate? Is that a issue for me? A few squares of dairy Milk?

HI WDF,
Hang on in there, it has got to get better.... My Botox took 2-3 weeks to kick in, and i think because you have had Fissurectomy too it may take longer to feel any effect! I hope that you can get your Bowels sorted. So damn unpredictable and annoying. I have toilet fear now.The thought of having to use another toilet apart from my own sends fear through me. Staying on the AD'S until this hell is over, which could be a while longer yet.....
