New and desperate

Postby youngworried » 13 Jul 2013, 22:36

Hi everyone. I am a 15 year old girl. I say this first because I don't know if an anal fissure is common with people my age...
Anyways, here is my story.
My first time dealing with pain was when I was around 8 or 9. The pain was horrible for me and I had no idea what it was, obviously. I told my mom about it. She told me now she thought it wasn't anything serious since I was so young but she took me to the doctors anyways. I remember the doctor did not say it was a fissure or hemmy, just a very bad bum burn.
Ever since then, I've been struggling with this problem. It got worse around 11 years old. The pain would occur more than twice a month and would last a few days then go away... Only to come back again later. It would either happen right after a BM or hours, even days after a painful BM. The pain for me was so bad, I begged my mom to take me to the ER to "see what was wrong with me"
I ended up in the ER twice. Both times, the doctor would examine me thoroughly, tell us there was a cut or two and then prescribe me some cream. The cream would work, the cut would heal, and everything would be OK again.
Until the damn pain kept coming back.
I ended up going to a specialist. He examined me too, and said there was nothing down there. No hemmy, no fissure, no nothing. He said it was just very irritated. Again, I was prescribed a cream and sent on my way. Another specialist I went to finally diagnosed me with an anal fissure. He prescribed me some very amazing cream that made the pain instantly go away. We also discussed dietary changes and that was that. I was 13 when I was diagnosed.
For a while, I was ok. No excruciating pain or any problems. Of course, I would have a little set back some days, but the pain was mild and I could deal with it. But after a while, I started getting very paranoid that the horrible pain would come back. So I started secretly buying Anusol for myself and used it multiple times a day....even if I wasn't in pain. I guess you could say I was addicted to it...
So, that's my back ground and this is my story today:
I woke up in the morning and REALLY had to go. The experience was rather painful and my poop almost felt acidic... I washed my bum (advised by specialist) after and put on the Anusol as usual. Everything was ok until about 30 minutes later. The pain started again. I panicked and went to put more Anusol on and it didn't work. Long story short,I'm still in excruciating pain. After a couple hours, the pain went minimal. By this point, I was to tired and stressed from the pain that I took a nap. My nap was interrupted when the pain started again, this time 10x worse. That was an hour ago. It started hurting so much I started to bawl. I still am. I can't take this pain.
The pain feels like someone is jabbing me with a knife. I feel it on both sides of my anus. I tried taking 3 sitz baths today, sat in the tub for 30 minutes each time and none of it worked.
By this time,my mom is very fed up with me constantly complaining about this pain so she refuses to help me. I'm all alone. I cannot take this pain any longer. Its taking a toll on my life.
If this pain persists I feel I will have to beg someone to take me to the ER. Is it worth it? Is some one on this forum able to help me. Please, someone help me.
If you read this far, thank you for taking the time. I'm sorry its so long.

Thats a very sad story, and I am truly sorry for you. I wish I could come take your hand, tell you all you need to know about fissures, and make sure you get the right treatment.
You really need to see a Colon Rectal Specialist, and do som reading in here. There are lots of thing you can do yourself to promote healing.
Regarding your mother, then you really need her help. She needs a kick in the ass! This condition must be taken serious, or you might suffer pain for longer than needed. Show her this post!
Now you should work on keeping those bowel movements as soft as possible. Like 6 on the bristol chart (guess you need to google that). Then ask your GP for some rectogesic or diltiazem creme, and use that twice a day. (Im not sure you got the right cremes)
And then remember to feel free to ask us any question you have. We are here to help and support you!

I'm so sorry you are going through all this without the full support from your mum... You really do need it!
I echo everything JHH has said ... Getting the right creams can work wonders. Drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day is key to keeping those bms soft. There is lots and lots of info on here... Be sure to read the stickys at the top of each topic too.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this at your age, bit in that note you will heal faster. :)
Please see a Gastrologist or CRS Doctor and in the meantime keep on drinking water, and softer foods, I drink usually a full glass of water before my meal and two large glasses after my meal. MY Gastro, Doctor recommended it and it works.
Try to stop using the cortisone, it tends to thin the area around the fissure and makes the skin weak. At first in my early fissure days my G.P. Doctor gave me cortisone and my Gastro, Doctor said no, no and told me to stop using it.
Please get that compound ointment you had before, get on that road to healing. we are all here for you. We will be your surrogate mother, mind you I could be I'm 51..Image

Just wanted to mention that I benefitted from steroid cream during my early days/weeks of healing.  My naturopath wanted me to use it liberally for a week to reduce the inflammation of scar tissue around my chronic AF.  It was helpful in my case but I know you can't use it too long because of the concern of thinning the skin.  I had a really big AF 'up the butt' so to speak and had to apply it internally.  I was afraid to do so until he urged this approach.  It was fine and I think sped up some early healing.  Enough said.....
