I got some stool softener equate pills,but I really dont feel comfortable taking them because its gel form and there too big for me to swallow.Is there any other stool softener thats NOT in pill form that I could take that works??? Please help thanks

You could try a mineral oil laxative. For me, kondremul was the best. It tastes good! It is an oil/water emulsion, so it mixes with your faeces quite well and really softens them. Plus the oil lubricates the BM.
I had to order it. I used amazon, and it came quickly, but your local pharmacy could probably get it. I'm in the USA by the way.

Movicol is great for me, and safe to take long term. You can adjust the dose to suit... Xx

Sarahp2222: Not sure where you are located but Movicol is sold as Miralax in the U.S. Many grocery and drug stores have both Miralax and a generic (cheaper) version.

I used Miralax which is an osmotic laxative. It draws water into your colon to soften the stool. I used it for about 3 months and it worked great as long as I drank a lot of water! However I think my body got used to it because I kept having to up the dose. I switched to magnesium oxide and that worked better for me.

Right now I just took some Miralax so I hope it really works cuz It is So hard for me to pee right now and used the bathroom!

Sarahp2222: What else are you taking besides Miralax? I think if you read around this forum you will see that most of us also use fiber supplements as well and plenty of water. I have found ground flax seed to be a must and use it along with Metamucil but everyone has to find what works for them.

Hi, I also use miralax. It's very adjustable, has no taste and is not a stimulant laxative. If you are upping your fiber please be sure to increase the fluids you drink. If you don't the fiber can actually constipate you. Finding what works best for you is trial and error but I'm sure you'll find it. Limit your bathroom experience to just a few minutes at a time. Sitting on the toilet too long can do more harm than good. Hope you start to feel good soon. Suzy

I actually had a bm today and it went quite smooth,suprisingly didnt really hurt like i thought it would.hope this means im getting better

Good girl Sarah, great news.  I have a generic stool softener pills from Walmart/Canada, it can be purchased in the states as well, and they are smaller, don't be afraid to take it if you need it.
