Hi was reading the report on the Innovations in chronic anal fissure treatment and other reports on it and it says that the Gonyautoxin injection gives a 100% success rate. I know clinical trials can take years and years but has anybody come across this before? Anybody know if it is available for use as a viable treatment option yet? Or even when it will? DESPERATE!!!

Hi Carolineandy. I've seen this too. There are two papers on it, both from the same group, in 2005 and 2007 if I recall. They are in S. America - Chile?, not the USA.
There has been nothing since.
I have to think that some unacceptable side-effects occurred or that somehow the treatment didn't live up to its early promise. Otherwise there would be more studies by now.
I'm seeing a CRS today, and I can ask him if he knows anything about it.

He had never heard of gonyautoxin. My suspicion is that it was something that seemed brilliant that just didn't stand the test of time.

Shame about the gonyautoxin,it sounded like a miracle cure that many of us would jump at.
