Question for those with anterior fissure

Postby Worrier12345 » 10 Oct 2013, 07:43

Hi everybody, I hope you are all as well as can be.

I have an internal anterior fissure that recently retore after several months of healing. This time around I've noticed a soreness when I walk that wasn't there before - almost like the fissure is being rubbed against itself. I've also noticed that my perineum is somewhat tender. If I push my perineum near my anus I am sure I can feel where the fissure is - is this possible? The last couple of days my BMs have not been painful, and there has been no blood but I'm still having discomfort walking and the tender perineum.

Has anyone else had this? How long can I expect this to go on for? Why would the "front" of the fissure in the anal cavity not be painful, but the "back" of be sore through the perineum?

I'm worried that this retear has done further damage and that this discomfort will never fade. Thanks for listening.

A couple of extra questions - could this soreness mean that the fissure is developing into something else? A fistula or an abcess? I'm just worried that it feels different this time - and that somehow it has got worse.

I'm hoping to get an appointment with the specialist in a couple of weeks. Ideally I'd ask him to inspect me with a anuscope, although I'm afraid that it would tear me again. On the other hand, I feel I really need to know if it's healing properly. Is there anybody who could answer my questions in the meantime? Anxiety is getting the better of me again. Thank you.

Have you tried looking at your anal region? Get a hand mirror and a good light. Maybe you have a hemorrhoid.
That could cause pain when walking, and feel different from the fissure. Also, pain is weird. You can have the pain in one place and feel it in another - it's called "referred pain". I've definitely noticed this effect. I get pain in my urethra, but there's nothing wrong there, it's "just" referred pain. Quite unpleasant.

Hopefully it's a hemmie and not your fissure doing something bad. They are nasty but I'll take my hemmie over a fissure any day.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Hi Scientist, thanks for replying.

I'm very well acquainted with my anal region these days! It's definitely not a hemorrhoid. I had a colonoscopy last week and during a digital examination the endoscopist retore my fissure and helpfully confirmed to me that it was, in fact, there.

It's just that since then, I've been experiencing these different sensations. i.e. discomfort when walking and a soreness in the perineum. Since my fissure is not right at the opening it is difficult (impossible) for me to see what is going on - so I am trying to interpret these sensations as best I can. Unfortunately, with all the anxiety I am feeling I am worried that the fissure has got worse/scar tissue has built up to a level where it won't heal/the fissure is turning into and abcess or fistula.
