Anyone with AFs also have Psoriasis?

Postby pdox » 24 Oct 2013, 22:56

This might seem completely random, but if you have AFs and Psoriasis as well, please reply. I know these are two completely different conditions, but I'm wondering if there is some link, even if a weak one. Stress for example seems to be a contributor to both, and I'm wondering whether diet and/or increased magnesium intake for treating AFs may trigger Psoriasis if you're already predisposed to it genetically.

I have both myself - developed Psoriasis after years of AFs.

I do! Jackpot. Though, not really. I have poor luck when it comes to health, but I have to be grateful and fortunate that I am able to go about daily life without much impediment on the average day.

I have had psoriasis since an outbreak in high school that made me look like I had chicken pox. Since then, it has been very dormant, knock on wood, and only get a spot here in there. I haven't noticed it getting worse with the AF, though.

Thanks vdb324. I was wondering whether changing my diet to 'manage' the AFs made my Psoriasis worse. I think there might be a link between diet and Psoriasis - with AFs I had to make sure that things were moving through my system quickly (by taking magnesium etc.), but I wonder whether it has thrown off the digestive balance somewhere else.

If I get the AFs healed or better under control, I'll see if having a more 'normal' routine helps with AFs, and will try to introduce probiotics etc. (tried to do that before, but stopped because it seemed to make the stools too hard for the AFs).

Yes, I have suffered from huge outbreaks of psoriasis for years. I haven't had one for a couple of years now though.
My psoriasis seems to be triggered by a throat infection.

Same for me. I had psoriasis after a bout of strep throat. A staph infection usually sets off psoriasis pretty easily.
