Spelt pasta - Help!

Postby sugarspice » 10 Nov 2013, 14:29

This is where I get very confused.

I have read that spelt pasta is high in soluble fibre as opposed to wholewheat pasta that is high in insoluble fibre. This bit is very clear.

However, I have just gone on to Amazon to buy Spelt Pasta and it has two vareties, wholewheat spelt OR white spelt. So which do I pick?????? If I pick the wholewheat one, surely I may as well have wholewheat pasta and if I pick the white one, surely that's no good. Am I right or wrong?

Thank you (as ever) in advance if you can help me with this.

Great question sugarspice

I would go with the whole wheat spelt as its much easier to digest than
whole wheat. Spelt also has less gluten and the gluten that it does have is
more readily digested than whole wheat gluten.

Its all about keeping your stool soft and not too bulky and with spelts better
absorbing qualities that bulkiness may be less likely to happen.

My saviour! Thanks Buttastic, I will use this rule on breads too as they always do the same thing! Nothing is more confusing than a mixed batch loaf LOL
