What should I do?

Postby AlexP » 26 Nov 2013, 17:18

Just need some advice. I've been putting on Nifedipine & Lidocaine ointments for 6 days now. I'm still having stinging when having BMs. Should I give it longer to see if they help? I'm only having discomfort when actually passing the stool. I'm an impatient person, but I've already had this for about 5 weeks before I went to my doctor last week. Have another appointment with the CRS for early January, but just wondering if I should call my doc tomorrow and tell him the stinging is still there, or wait another week. I'm wondering if it's actually a fissure or a tiny hemmroid..Anyways, maybe I should try a steroid cream or nitro if this combo doesn't work. But several studies say it takes up to 21 days before nifedipine/lidocaine start to help..What should I do? Pain is not constant, only during BMs.

Yes, keep it up for at least three weeks to a month. If it's still not helping you could try one of the other fissure remedies.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!
