Hi Ouchie,
It's good you've made the contact now - Just stay on top of it and don't be afraid to call them if you've not heard for a while, just to see if they are any closer to getting you a date.
Pushing really doesn't help for sure because it puts so much pressure on the area, creating fissures & hems and aggravating them both, but I doubt that this will directly lead to incontinence issues/ gas. You may just need to look at retraining your bowel habits, so you start pushing from your lower abdominal muscles rather than your rectal area and learn to become a lot more relaxed about the entire process - you sound so stressed out about it all, which is completely normal, especially given your worries about the bleeding.
It is quite possible to reach a stage where you can go quite normally, with minimal (if any) pushing but this is helped immensely by eating the right diet and producing the right stool consistency to be able to do that and then just being totally relaxed in the evacuation process. It will be good to examine your diet and chat to a gastroenterologist to see what is causing you chronic diahrroea and hopefully once that begins to settle down, everything else will also fall into place for you.
It is completely normal to feel highly stressed about this, anxious & scared and if things are that overwhelming, do you have a sympathetic GP you can chat to about your general stress levels?? :)
