I've been suffering from hard stools for some time now. They are so hard and bulky that I have to manually push on it with my finger to get them out. From all this hard straining, I've developed an anal fissure that won't go away.
I've started 1) drinking more water, 2) eating more fiber, 3) taking magnesium citrate (400mg), and 4) taking 1 colace a day in the morning to help make things softer.
I'm struggling to get to the "toothpaste" consistency. I've gotten things much much softer, but now I'm finding that my stool gets stuck in my rectum and just won't come out! I still have to use my fingers to manually coax the stool out.
I also use coconut oil and aquaphor on fissure itself after bowel movements and throughout the day.
Should I try Miralax instead of Colace?
What do you do you have soft stool that won't just come out?
