Mmmm it does taste better!! But it is trial and error like you say and each of us reacts differently too! A real pain (pardon the pun!)

I've been using 3 ducusate sodium a day (colace) and I don't feel it's helped at all. Switching to Miralax.

Colace didn't do anything for me. Miralax (plus a healthy diet with lots of fiber of course) is the way to go!

I have been taking 2-3 Colace everynight since May and drink lots of water during the day. The Colace seems to have quit working. I had a huge BM the other day and started this all over. I've been reading most of you take Miralax how much?? I don't want it really liquidy either. I am barely eating because I dread using the bathroom, but stools still not very soft.

I take one dose (17 g) in the evening. That's what the package recommends. I'd start with that, and adjust from there. Get generic brand - cheaper!

Hey Sue1962,
I took Colace for 8 months before switching to Miralax after my LIS. It really works much better. You just need to give it a few days to get the optimum results. The first couple of days I couldn't see much difference in it and the Colace but it becomes obviously better once things kick in. I started with the capful (17g's in the US) and have reduced it to less than a half since recovering from surgery. I say start with a capful and reduce it or increase it a little according to how it works for you. You may need a little less or a little more depending, but just be sure and give it a few days to work before adjusting the dose.

Thank you for your reply. I will try it. I am just not eating much and losing weight which is a good thing, just not this way.

It's actually important to eat enough to keep food moving through your system - if it stays in too long, more water will be drawn out. I know it's hard when having a BM is scary!
Also, fiber supplements (citrucel) didn't help me. I'm just eating a lot of high fiber food: bran cereal, veggies, fruit, whole grains, etc.

Hey Sue,
I lost 50 lbs with my fissure. I agree it's not a good way to loose it Image
I just ate the fiber also after having a bad experience with the supplements.
