keep getting fissures

Postby RipTorn » 24 Apr 2016, 10:25

Hi Everybody,
In the last year or so I have gotten fissures, had them heal, and get another one many months later. It just happened again yesterday. The last one took quite a while to heal and hurt a lot. The one I got yesterday is new as it is in a different spot. They all happen in the general anterior aspect, which I guess is uncommon even moreso since I'm male. From what I've read.
I am aware many of you deal with chronic fissures, but I can't find anyone mentioning what I'm dealing with anywhere, just keeping getting new fissures.
I've had chronic pelvic pain for many years and know I have really tight pelvic/anal muscles. I'm sure that is why this keeps happening, and I think if I kept up a routine of manually stretching the sphincter muscles this wouldn't happen. It's not exactly my favorite hobby.
Another thing is this never seemed to happen before I started drinking heavily, then I stopped drinking and it didn't happen, now I started drinking again heavy and it happened again. Just a thought as I haven't seen anyone mentioning that either.
Anyway great support group, I came here last time this happened and I credit this forum for me getting better.

This is indeed something rare - new fissures forming again and again. Ive been fighting myself with one fissure for an year now. Best advice would be to see a gastro specialist or a surgeon to tell you on the best possible solution. Pls keep us informed on results.

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm going to try dilation (started already with me finger, I guess) and see where that gets me. The skin in my anterior area is always pretty light and glassy compared to the rest of my skin. My CRS put me on a topical ointment that dries the skin out there because he said it had been too moist for too long, resulting in breakdown of the skin there. After a month it doesn't seem to have helped that much.
