I cant handle the pain anymore

Postby Brande555 » 22 Jun 2017, 20:33

Hey everyone,

I have been dealing with anal fissures for over 4 months..i have tried everything under the sun...i am in so much pain with every bm and the spasms come and go they are so painful sometimes.. i dont have health insurance so its hard for me to just say YES I need to have surgery. I feel there is no hope and I have thought numerous times that I wish I didn't wake up.

My doctor that i have seen twice said not sure what to do besides to refer you to the surgeon. Well i cant even handle having a bm let along having a exam done..he wanted me to have a colonoscopy but i dont want to poop...i couldn't handle taking the Miramax to clean me out..

I feel so lost right now..i don'tknow what to do.

help

Brande -- sooo sorry to hear about your pain.

Are you:
Using heat / cold
Taking warm baths / sitz baths
Use a stool softener like miralax
Hydrating and eating well (good fibre)
Keeping it clean after bm
Using fissure cream

If you are doing all this then great - if not, get on it.

If the pain is unbearable and you don't have underlying health issues I would seriously explore LIS. The procedure is most often very successful and gives people their lives back. Don't dismiss it.

Just know that many on this forum have been and are exactly where you are at. You will get through this - it sucks and is horrible - but just take it a moment and a day at a time.

Let us know what your next steps will be.

All best - CB

So sorry you are going through this. All I can say is that although it sometimes seems that the pain of anal fissure will never let up and go away, in time it does grow less. That's not to say that it won't return, and it does, but there are variations in intensity, and I have had some months when I almost felt back to normal.

I think you might want to ask a doctor for some effective pain management medication. The anti-convulsant gabapentin is one option, and pregabalin, another anti-convulsant that's usually sold as Lyrica, can also help - I've found it useful this past couple of years.

Yes like Canadabum said, heat and cold

I soak in a very warm bath for a good long time, then I follow up with an ice pack wrapped in a towel. This helps a lot

I just started on Lyrica to help with pain.

Hi everyone, i am 32 years old, i have fissure for 3 and half year, the longest period without fissure was only 3 month, when fissure appears in my anus it's horror with a lots of blood. What is your experience, how often fissure appears in your life(every week, month)? i get fissure every month. My life is very bad now, i lost 10kg, now when i am writing this i have pain in my anus like i never had before, i feel STRONG pressure on anus, i feel miserly. I am reading this site, and i can see that you can buy creams like: rectogesic ointment, dilitiazem, in my country i can't buy this, i am so sad, always when i get fissure i think that i have cancer because i had condiloma(hpv) on my anus, i remove that and now i don't have them 3 years. Before three years i was a normal dad, husband and friend, know i am nothing in my soul because of pain and fissure problems. I don't know, i am so sad, please help me.

What country are you living in?

You need a doctor to examine you and refer you to a specialist if necessary.

I am using a heating pad
Take sitz baths after every bowel movement
taking stool softners.
Stopped drinking soda, drink water
Bulked up on my fiber (veggies and fruits)

I'm on nifed/lido 0.2/4% 3 times a day

Tried nitropaste and didn't help
I did have gastric bypass in 2012 so I am not really constipated now..most of the times its loose or diaherra.

The pain is unbearable...i have thought numerous times I wished I didn't wake up...all I do is cry after the bowel movement... I'm writing this now taking a sitz bath because this is where I live....

The doctor I have seen pretty much told me we you've tried everything here's a surgeon well I just don't want that to be my only option what else is there..

Right now my options are limited because I have no health insurance to get on Lyrica or any of the other medications cuz they're too expensive...

Hi I'm not sure if you can take things to slow your transit time after a gastric bypass, but my CRS says the worst thing for a fissure is liquid BMs as they are acicid and strip the already raw skin hence cause excruciating spasms.
I have crohns and most of my BMs are Liquid if I don't keep on top of my meds. My fissure was caused by constant diarrhoea.
Could you take psyllium to bulk or loperamide/Imodium to slow you down and try and get a more formed BM
Also try a barrier cream bed a BM if you can manage it, to protect the area
This may help with the spasms while you wait for the LIS
Good luck
