Wow-that is great you got through that first hurdle there and did fine with the bm. It should get easier but just don't forget to keep things soft and regular so you don't get constipated.

Here's the 48-hour update. Last night I went out to dinner (first time leaving the house since surgery), and it was great. Came home, had another movement, and almost felt normal for the first time in a long time.
The tub soaks are really helpful, and I've had a couple of ibuprofen here and there. My wife took one of the Percocet last night for a headache, but I've avoided them. :)

72-hour update: everything seems to be going fairly well. I've been regular, I've been spending plenty of time in the tub, and not doing anything especially physical. Left the house twice yesterday.
Today I've taken two ibuprofen so far, the second because the soreness seems to have switched to an odd combination of soreness and itching.
I think I will go to work tomorrow (not by bike) and get up from my desk periodically. My brain is all there and I'm pretty well-rested, but I'm a little uneasy about having to sit in the same place for 8 hours.
More soon!
