Nitro, Diltiazem, and Nefedipine are the only three that I know of. The latter two are basically the same thing, Calcium channel blocker blood pressure medicines. I think by physiological testing Pinky means just routine pre-op tests to make sure you're heathy enough for the operation, e.g. an ECG, etc.
Glyceryl trinitrate (GTN) or as we loving call it, just plain old nitro!

I have an article that says the healing rate for ointments is between 30-70% and also that 90% of fissures heal spontaneously.

Yeap - unfortunately " only stars know" if somebody will heal or not . One thing is for sure , though - the longer one has a fissure , harder it is for the thing to heal by itself Image Some papers will boast 85-90 % rate with creams !!!! Actually I believe them - they might help healing in that %, but relapses are very likely to happen if sphincter hypertonicity is the culprit Image If you have a tight butt - only LIS can help permanently. If your fissure is result of mechanical injury due to bursted hemmy or hard and big BM, than once you regulate BM consistency, fissure should heal and stay healed !
Best of luck :paddysmiley1:
PS: I used both Nitro and Nefidapine and healed couple of times just to re tear my butt about every 6 weeks or so : (((. My sphincter was too strong to be helped by creams - it needed a permanent fix - the LIS

It does! Have had 2 of them without any meds given, those needles cannot be compared with normal shots. I wish I hadn't tried Botox at all, and gone for LIS sooner.

Wow, I can't imagine how getting an injection in the anus must feel!

Probably wouldn't be too bad if one were asleep with anesthesia.

I just could not make myself do it - I would feel violated , really. And with all risks attached and low healing rate and no standard protocol it just was not valid option for me any way I looked at it Image

Some surgeons prefer a patient to be asleep so all is relaxed, when I asked for botox with no G/A my surgeon said I would hit the roof with the pain !
I found instant relief with botox and it helped in my healing but not enough as I had LIS but just maybe botox given in the early days of a fissure might just do the trick ! Image

If Botox absolutely helped no one, I don't think it would still be given. I would probably give it a shot (literally) if necessary.
