Well ladies I hope I am not speaking too soon but my fissure is 100% better since the last time I posted. I continued using the cream and took whirlpool baths every night for 2 weeks straight with epsom salts. I am feeling great with no pain and I am down to using the cream to only once a day after a bm. I think the key for me is to keep my stool soft and easy to expel which I am doing religiously and all seems to be well. Thanks for your advice and I wish you all the best in your healing process. God Bless!

While not one of the "ladies," I'm still delighted you have made such incredible progress!! Just stay on the straight and narrow and keep those butt problems as just bad memories!

Hi Bixa
I just wanted to say that I'm happy to hear your feeling better. I hope it lasts for you. I wanted to mention that I had botox for my fissure and my CRS doesn't believe that you need a local or a general for the procedure. I live in Canada and apparently they do things differently here. Anyways I had it done and it didn't hurt much at all. I would definetly try it if other things don't work for you. I recently had LIS surgery as the botox didn't work for me, but I wanted to say that it didn't hurt getting the injections. Nothing in comparison to the fissure spasms and pain. Good luck and hope your still feeling well :D

Hi, so sorry you had a set back. I used all the creams and while they helped a little bit I finally had to have surgery. I don't know what type of surgery you had years ago but the LIS surgery only involves a small cut. It's a very simple procedure and the pain after usually isn't any worse than the fissure. All LIS does is relax the sphincter muscle so the fissure can heal. I was very scared about it too and I'm a big baby when it comes to pain. Honestly it wasn't that bad and I wish I would have done it sooner. Botox is only temporary. If your bum is really tight and that may be why you tore in the first place, then botox probably isn't the best choice. Keep using the nifedipine and give it a chance. Also try using wet wipes instead of toilet paper, rubbing the area really makes things worse. Sitz baths with a little epsom salts in them helped me too. Good luck and I hope you heal soon. Suzy :)
