Probably a stupid question...steak?

Postby Layla85 » 16 Sep 2011, 15:43

This is almost definitely dumb of me to ask but I'm taking a friend out to dinner somewhere nice for their birthday this weekend and they've requested this steak restaurant. It's not the sort of thing I normally eat but this place is famous for their steaks and I feel like I'd look silly if I didn't order it (as it's basically all they serve). I'm pretty sure steak is a disastrous food for fissures. Should I avoid like the plague?

Oh gosh Layla, I hated when things came up and I looked crazy avoiding foods.
I never ate steak with my fissure, but if I had to, I think I would order the most tender piece of steak I could possibly get! Image Filet Mignon? I personally would have avoided it like the plague, but I was afraid to eat almost anything. I think I was on my death bed from starvation before surgery
Get a baked potato and some vegetables if you can and eat as little as possible of the steak! Ahh I just had a brainstorm- maybe you could up the stool softener some that day? Image

Good idea Dawn! I know it's kind of a dumb question. i've been super wary of going near red meat for a long long time. It's only because this is a special occasion and I guess I also haven't told my friend I'm suffering with this so worry about the awkwardness of ordering a veggie meal in steak house lol Image
Thank you for your reply, and have a lovely weekend

Beachgirl,
Any red meat can cause harder bm's. Most folks who have fissures try to stick with fish and chicken.

red meat is harder to digest, so better avoid it. Layla, it's really not worth having the pain by eating things you are doubtful... Imagine the agony, frustration and pain you have to deal with just because of a piece of steak?!
I once went to a restaurant with my family and ended up with just a bowl of salad and orange juice while they feasted. Not so bad actually!
