Thanks guys :) Well I'll lay off the Prep H then. I suppose I could still use it for the anti itch. Cause I actually went to sleep without wanting to claw my bum off.
I'm a tid bit worried about the creams the docs sell. Only cost wise though because I'm pretty much dirt poor. I'm not even sure my mom could help much either. How much do they usually run?

Roudy - I just got back my my crs (and he seems to be fairly knowledgeable) - and he told me not to put anything on my anal area, but to just keep it clean and dry - AND, if I want to put anything on it, use Balneol - lightly, not much, just on the outside. (The Balneol is about $18 for a 3-oz bottle, here in CA. It's OTC, too.)
I have no idea how his advice is going to work for me, but I guess I'll have to try it.

I've been wondering about those cleansing lotions.
We don't seem to get Balneol in Canada. What are the ingredients? Did your doc say to actually put it 'up there', or just on the outside? I wonder if this would be a good thing for Davo? You know how irritated your skin can get after a few days with a stomach bug. I usually end up using diaper cream in those cases. :D

I live in Canada, and the nifedipine I use is about $16/container without extra medical coverage. It lasts for about a month.

My nifedipine was 65.00 at a compounding pharmacy. Balneol is good stuff!! So is A&D cream.

Hmmm. I'm thinking it's going to be a little a little steep here too. Price wise. For A+D are you using the cream or the ointment? I've seen both.

I used the cream. Just remember, it will not stop the spasms!! Neither will the Balneol. It will stop the itch and maybe the burning a littlw. Balneol is just for cleaning the area. It is good if you are away from home and have to go, but for healing a fissure...no way

woi - the Balneol ingredients are (in order):
water, mineral oil, propylene glycol, glyceryl stearate/PEG-100 stearate, PEG40 stearate, laureth-4, PEG-4 dilaurate, lanlin oil, sodium acetate, carbomer-934, triethanolamine, methylparaben, dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate, fragance and acetic acid. --- Hope I typed those right.
