MiraLAX, sent from heaven?

Postby ButtHurtBurt » 21 Feb 2012, 09:08

I am relatively new here and the first tip I picked up from many of the posts was to add some MiraLAX into the diet and I cannot thank you enough. I have been grinning and bearing this for almost 3 years and just had Botox, but never tried stool softener. The CRS had told me to add lots of fiber, but really it never changed the consistency enough and he never mentioned stool softener.
I feel like I have been rubbing two sticks together here and you all have been walking around with Zippo lighters. The healing from the Botox is going much better and my quality of life has gone up exponentially with such an easy addition. For anyone who hasn't given it a try I would give a solid thumbs up to MiraLAX. I <3 this salty terrible tasting concoction!

Hey burt,
So happy to hear you are doing better with miralax.
I love hearing stories where someone makes one seemingly small change to their routine, that makes all the difference.
Happy healing! :)
as for taste, well i'd drink monkey \"yangtze fluid\" if I thought it would help!

Glad to hear it has been such a help you. It was a Godsend for me too. I still get blood, some pain, and those maddening spasms, but it has made life for me much better. LIS surgery coming up on Monday!

Good luck rasmith!
Miralax made a big difference to me also! Image The colace my GP prescribed had little effect... still taking Miralax and hoping it's healing up!

Hey Folks - are any of you taking MiraLax with any other softeners like docusate? I'm planning to switch to MiraLax and wondering if taking both is Ok.
Also, what's your recommendation of the timing of taking MiraLax? Dinner or lunch or both?

I've been taking it and fiber alone, both in the morning.

hey dude,
I'm taking the miralax, standard dose, about 1/3 dose at lunch and about 2/3 with dinner. seems to work best for me.
be careful tho, a little too much and you're squirting, which isn't good either. Image

I take the one capful all at one time in the morning, and so far that has given me a soft, but not too soft stool most every day. Haven't yet had a BM since my LIS yesterday but we'll see how it goes.

For how long is it safe to take Miralax? I've had pretty good success just using a ton of fiber, but I am having LIS surgery on Friday and may need to bring in the big guns. Thanks.

You should ask your doctor, but my CRS said it is safe to take Miralax for life.
