Juicing After Surgery

Postby smiles » 01 Sep 2013, 14:36

Hey guys, I was just wondering.. have any of you heard of doing a juice fast after surgery? I was thinking of maybe doing this until the incision site heals.. I would make my own fresh, organic juices so I would be getting all of the nutrients I need..but I wouldn't be having BMs so that would allow some time for it to heal. What do you think? Has anyone heard of people doing this?

My surgeon encourages his patients to get eating normally asap to encourage the bowel to get working again but to use movicol to keep things soft.

Living on a juice for up to two years? Well, I'm not a doctor but I don't think that's a good idea Image

You will need protein to heal. Do you have enough protein in your juices?
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Don't want to worry you smiles but I agree with dent1
I am week after surgery (piles) and it is tempting not to eat or just drink, but I do eat regular meals as my CRS recommended

I didn't ever try juice alone, I think it would be a bad idea, you would get acidic diarrhea maybe and that would sting. Anyway, what I take is a shot of wheat grass juice per day, and its done wonders for me...

Hi, doctor recommended a normal diet after surgery. They want you to have normal bms. If you don't stretch the muscle and any new scar tissue you run the risk of anal stenosis. I'd eat sensibly, drink plenty of liquid and take a stool softener and fiber but don't go overboard.
