Too much fiber?

Postby Newmommy28 » 04 Dec 2013, 13:35

Hi everyone!

So I'm kind of surprised I'm having such burning/stinging while going to the bathroom because my bm's look to be very soft. I see people have written on here that they should be toothpaste consistency. How do you achieve this? I'm wondering if I'm overdoing it on the fiber. What should I be eating to make my bm's not so soft?? Help!

Thanks in advance!

Hi Newmommy, and welcome!
Are you worried your BMs are too soft? I don't think you should worry about that unless you have actual diarrhoea.
If your BMs are very soft, you may still be having stinging and burning while the fissure heals. Even soft BM must be a bit traumatic for your anus, so you may still have some pain for a while. It will ease up I am sure!

Are you using any creams, medications, sitz bath, hot water bottle etc? You want to relax the anal sphincter and increase blood supply to it, to help it heal.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Thanks Scientist!

Yes, I'm doing baths and hot water bottle. I'm also on Day 7 of Rectiv. Thank you for your reply. I was worried things were too loose since it still hurt but I guess the pain will continue to be there doing bm's but less and less (I hope!). That's what I was confused about! I guess I'll continue to do what I'm doing then!
