Countdown to Botox

Postby Sakura1 » 23 Sep 2014, 12:46

Evening all

So after getting my fissure back in September 2013, I am finally getting my botox injections next Tuesday under general anesthetic.

I am very nervous as my pain is now at a very low level and I am functioning well. (albeit on a very limited no fibre diet). I have been able to fly a couple of times and recently did a 2.5 hour drive, all of which would have been unthinkable not so long ago. Life is really quite good right now and when I poop it is like a cow pat which doesn't hurt me at all.

Also, I have to have another operation in connection with the breast cancer I have. They want to allow me about 2 weeks to get over the botox op before doing the cancer one.

Can those of you that have had botox give me some idea of what it is going to be like. For example how much pain/discomfort am I likely to have when the anesthetic wears off, what will I be able to do? Will I be able to drive/work etc.

I am just trying to plan as I have been warned that the cancer surgery is substantial and will have a longer recovery period than the original mastectomy.

Thanks for any info :)

I have not had Botox so cannot really say more than from posts on here are quite prolific, pro and con. I will provide you with the link and though there are 278 posts - and if it were me - I would look through them, and with your lessened pain take that into consideration having the surgery.

Thinking of you and your approaching breast surgery :smilyhug:

Sakura,

I had Botox injected a few weeks ago to my pelvic floor muscles... I was a little sore afterwards but was okay to go to a kids party the next day. I was really nervous and scared too but my experience was not bad; I would do it again if I need to.

sakura, If your fissure pain has lessened i believe the botox should not be a major problem as to pain. The one thing that seems to be a common theme is having exterior hem from the botox. I found heat and ice seem to help. I would take it easy for a few days after that you should be able to start adding activities. When i had botox the fissure was incredibly painful so my recovery time and the time it took the symptoms to lessen took a couple of months. If going into this things are better I think you will fair better. Good luck.

Good luck with your botox and your breast cancer op, Sakura. It sounds as though you've been having a rough time, and I really hope things get better for you, SOON.
:smilyhug:
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Thanks for the replies and keep wishes. Reading through those posts makes you realise just how different everyone's experiences are.

After more than a year of managing it, I believe I will go ahead with Botox as even though my pain level is good, I can't continue to eat so little and keep losing weight. I will keep a diary on here like many of you have :)

Had the Botox yesterday about 4pm. Backside a bit sore. Dr said he put 50mils in which doesn't sound like a lot so hope it was enough.

Not very happy that he didn't come and see me after procedure so I have no idea what size fissure is, how deep etc. not that knowing that would make any difference to me. Nurse also told me that I would not need follow up appointment unless I had more pain.

On scale of 1 to 10 I would say pain is currently about 2.

Will keep you updated

good luck. I would say 50 units is the minimum, but in your case with less pain and discomfort going in, I think it's plenty. Give it time.
