I have been on this forum for a few years and have gone back and forth about what treatment to pursue. I currently believe that I have a fissure, but it hasn't been diagnosed by a doctor. I did see a surgeon last month, who said he didn't see the fissure, but only looked externally. This surgeon said he would do LIS if he saw the fissure. I have been emailing a surgeon in Dallas, who based on the information I provided him, said that he thought LIS would help me and would recommend it. I have no other options locally for LIS other than the surgeon I saw last month. So my choices are that I could either go back to the local surgeon and have him look again to see if he sees the fissure and if so, he will do the surgery or I could travel to Dallas to see the surgeon out there and possibly have him do the surgery. I would assume that I would need to stay in the Dallas area for a period of time, but I don't know how long it might be, etc. For those who've had LIS, how do you feel about traveling out of state for the surgery?

Why didn't the local guy look inside with a proctoscope?
It would be better to be local as you never can tell how you will feel post surgery. Better to be home and comfy.
But you want a surgeon you can have faith in.
