Luckily mine was just starting to form a tunnel from getting an abcess which was right on top of the fissure so mine probably wasn't as big at yours but I know that I was left with a very large open wound! I didn't have any Botox with it and I had that a year ago and unfortunately I'm still not healed but I would say from last year it's half the size now so I guess it has done some healing

Of course your worried Hun...make sure they give you decent pain killers as no one needs to be in pain anymore...they can prescribe you Valium, which is an anti spasmodic or gabapentin which is a nerve blocker if you are in serious pain and normal OTC pain killers aren't helping. I tried the Valium and it didn't do a thing....but the gabapentin was great took my level 8 pain down to a 4 and I actually managed to sleep, hopefully you will be fine on normal pain killers but don't be afraid to ask for stronger.
I'm sure they will tell you but lots of sitz baths maybe with oregano and coconut in there but they will advise....have a look at cell salts for fistulas it's mainly silica, calcium fluoride and calcium phosphate....I took them after my LIS to help prevent any infection.
You will get better Hun it will just take a bit of time....I'm learning patience from this horrid thing

I Agree ask for gabapentin I have been on that for pain and it really helps I'm slowly coming off them but there really good so worth a go! Coconut oil in the bath is good and I bathe my wound with salt water to prevent infection, wishing you all the luck in the world xx

Hi Katie,
Two of my crohns friends have had test for fistulas one didn't have dye and one did, I will see if I can ask them but from what I remember the one who had the MRI this year didn't have dye injected. You could always google it I'm sure there must be some info on it as it seems a common compliant

So I called up the mri part to the hospital this morning and I will need at have the injection but 9 times out of ten it's in the arm!! So that's OK!!! I guess a question I keep thinking about now is when a fistula is operated on does it get fixed 100% of the time? X
