I should say that I'm mostly wiping with cotton balls creamed with "balneol"? Not sure if I spelled that right. It hurts when I sort of wipe and push up in there? I don't shove anything, but just sort of put the cotton ball up in there a tiny bit...gently to ensure I get everything off and it hurts. The last 2 days I've had diarrhea, which I'm sure isn't helping, I've been sick since Monday evening with some type of flu, stomach flu...head is killing me, sneezing, all that crap.
I'm still going to continue to use the balneol and continue with the hot showers. I felt back there last night and it feels a little hard? I'm not sure if it's from the fissure or the surgery? I used the nifedipene cream last night....not sure how to help this soreness, just time I guess.
Thank you for all of your input.

Glad to here that you are on the mend. I have not had any surgery (well 3 hemmy ops and a thrombosed one too) but I would go with what everyone has said about wiping. I very seldom use soap in that area, and every BM I just tap with damp extra thick loo paper, then dry it the same way, incredibly gently, until it is dry. It takes time, but it helps Then I smother a thin layer
of Vaseline (which I am sure you cannot do while healing).
I think that cotton balls might be a little harsh, especially putting them up, as you said. Any, hope you don't mind my suggestions, and get well very soon.

Well, 2 weeks past LIS surgery and I'm a little disappointed. I thought as well as things were going 3-4 days after surgery that it really couldn't get any worse. I was mistaken.
I got sick about 4-5 days after surgery....came down with a bug and had a few bouts of diarrhea. Had diarrhea again last evening and boy did it sting/hurt. I'm not sure what's going on here, why i'm continuing to have diarrhea...my diet hasn't changed, and I have stopped miralax. I even stopped benefiber as I thought it might be attributing to my "loose stools".
It's not a miserable pain, it's a stinging pain. When I have a regular bowel movement, I sit down, it comes out just fine, there is no pain, no blood, but I have some stinging afterwards and one time it was a sharp pain that went up into my stomach. I imagine it's just taking time; however, i'm nervous that i've done something up there because of this diarrhea. There's really no way to know until my visit next Thursday.
I felt sore and tender yesterday, couldn't really sit for long periods of time at all, feels like most of my pain is on the right side. I'm taking a lot of care when wiping, being extra gentle and using balneol and cotton balls. Doesn't hurt now when I wipe, I just feel like I've taken these huge steps forward after surgery, with very little side effects and then BAM, 2 weeks post-surgery I'm feeling very sore and having some stinging after bowel movements. Now, I took 5 steps forward and 3 steps back.
I get sharp pains sometimes just walking around, only last a few seconds, like "zingers" or something. Feels sore, raw, tight? Is that the right word?
Anyway, I'm still on the fruit and water and all that jazz, afraid to do benefiber or miralax because of the stools right now. Hoping today will be better and I will have a nice bm.
I just wanted to give an update- hope others are doing well with their recoveries.

Take it from someone who had at least nine bouts of the stomach flu before developing some kind of immunity:
THE STOMACH FLU IS BRUTAL Image
It can and will mess you up for weeks. You should consider getting some high quality probiotics if you're not already on them. My local pharmacy even carries some behind the counter that are refridgerated. You have to ask for them, but they aren't prescription. Everything you're saying sounds so familiar...the sharp stomach pains, I know them oh so well.
Good luck, and I take it as a good sign that you're not bleeding. Don't worry, you'll get back on track soon.

Well, had a good bm today, thank goodness...atleast it wasn't diarrhea. My fiber pills have probiotics in them, so I'm glad I've stuck with those.
No bleeding and no stinging pain after bm...thank goodness. Hoping for a successful next few days.

OH NO!!!!
I went to the bathroom a little while ago....and I think I lost my stitches...is this bad? They were white, thread-like material. I had sort of a soft bm, sort of diarrhea, but not really....I wiped and then looked for blood and I didn't see any blood, but as I was flushing the toliet I saw this string, just floating there. OMG, please tell me this is okay? I'm so worried because with my hemorrhoidectomy I popped a stitch from pushing my first bm out and my stitches unraveled rather early. I believe she only did a partial closure, and I'm 2 weeks and 1 day past surgery.....I hope this isn't going to hurt my recovery? Anybody?????

Hey make,
Two weeks out, it's probably fine. I've had a surgery (not butt related) where at about the two week point, my body basically just ejected the stitches. The surgeon said that sometimes the body just does this. My stitches were the kind that were supposed to slowly dissolve ... They didn't - not at all! Were you straining at the time? Did it hurt?
If there was no pain, it's most likely okay. Maybe if you're worried though, you could ring your CRS? From memory, you had another appointment soon anyway right?
I can really relate to the setbacks you've been having. For me, the recovery has been very up and down. Also, those brief, sharp pains you were talking about - I've been getting those too.

Make,
I didn't have any stitches with my LIS or skin tag removal, but I agree with Sphinct. I think two weeks is plenty of time but would call the CRS to get a piece of mind.

I'd like to add Make,
At two weeks post op, your butt is still pretty swollen and has all kinds of weird sensations. It will tell you when you need to rest, rinse or whatever for awhile,Lol
Just try to relax and roll with it. It will get better especially after your stomach settles and gives you a break! That was my biggest fear to get that during my recovery. I have a little one in elementary school and was so afraid she would get something and bring it home to me.

I popped my stitches in the first week or so by pushing a bit too hard, it hurt like hell for a long time afterwards, infact I think it's hampered my healing and why I'm still not healed 6 and a half months later..
