Hello again!
Just an update on me. I returned to normal eating yesterday and this morning had another bm....and it went beautifully. I sat down, it came out, no pain, no bleeding, I wiped, pulled up my pants, washed my hands and then suddenly realized what had happened. I just can NOT believe how unbelievably easy this has been. I'm so scared that in a few months my fissure is going to come back.
The dread of pain, bleeding, spasms afterwards....I've lived my life from one toilet experience to the next, and I can't believe in 5 years I finally had a bm that just went so smooth and soft, easy....like nothing had taken place back there.
I'm about an hour past having a bm and it's a little sore, but nothing like the days before.
YIPPPPPPEEEEE!!!! MY ASS IS HEALED, MY ASS IS HEALED!!!
Thank you again to everybody on this forum and hope all those that are seeking advice as to have this surgery...from my experience with a hemorrhoidectomy compared to this...I would do this 10 times over. Thank you LIS surgery!

Make,
I'm so happy for you! I think the fear will take along time to get past...
I knew you would rock this surgery after the hemorrhoidectomy. Just remember even though your butt feels healed, it will take 6 weeks for the fissure to heal, so keep up the soft poop regimen for awhile!

That's a great idea Dawn...I will continue with my amitiza for sure, benefiber and miralax for awhile to ensure that fissure heals. I really think those hot baths and then a few hours later doing ibuprofen and ice packs has really helped! Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate it!

Hey make,
Congratulations!! Sounds like you're doing really well. :D
My BM are not quite as joyous as yours, but things are getting better.
Really glad to hear things are going so well.

Well, 1 week and 1 day and I'm feeling pretty darn good. I have stopped the miralax because of stomach pain/cramps.... I still take benefiber everyday, high fiber diet, lots of water, my other pills I normally take and I haven't had any problems bleeding or with pain, it's been pretty awesome! I go in, sit down, it comes out and I'm done. I guess this is fairly normal with the rest of the world, but for me, this is a miracle.
I do feel a little sore still after a bm, when I wipe....not sure what that's about, it's just when I wipe, so maybe it's my fissure or from my surgery, who knows? Bruising has gone down quite a bit and I still have little flaps of hemorrhoids, not sure my ass will ever look like normal, but I can see where she clipped the sentinel tag. That doesn't hurt at all.
I'm so happy that I did this surgery, just wish I would have freaking done it a long time ago. Oh well....
Cheers for now.

Sounds like you're well on the way back to a normal butt!
I'm getting stomach pain and cramping too. I've decided to start reducing the Movicol because I'm sure it's the culprit. I don't understand why I didn't get these problems with it before the surgery though.
Did you have any issues with Movicol/Miralax before surgery?

Makem3, this is nothing but great news! So glad you're having a good recovery, you totally deserve it after your awful hemorrhoidectomy experience. Image
Sphinctersaurus, I actually have a theory...maybe before surgery, you were either subconsciously holding back BM's because of the pain, or were unable to have complete ones because the sphincter wouldn't relax enough. The longer the stools stick around, the harder they get...hence the need for more Miralax...but now that you've had the surgery and things are relaxed==you just don't need as much Miralax.

Yeah, my stools are doing fine now after the LIS.....and yes I did have some cramping or irritability with miralax. I just plain hate that stuff, but it's the most effective, so I could probably go back to using every other day, cut back on how much I put in my drink and be okay I think, but for now all is going so well that I think I will just stop using it.
Yesterday, after my bm, it is sore when I wipe. Has anybody else experience this? Not during a bm or before...it's only when I wipe, just super sore...almost an itching feeling, like I just want to wipe and rub really hard? I took a super hot shower last night and put the shower head on my bum for a good 5-10 minutes and the minute I took the hot water off, the pain/soreness resumed. I took 4 ibuprofen last night and that helped....had some pressure type pain, but nothing like the day of or after surgery. Just want to make sure that is all normal? I'm guessing this might be a sign that things are healing? I haven't been using my Nifedipine cream, maybe I should go back to using that?
My follow-up appt is set for March 3rd.

Hey make,
there's going to be a little pressure there with all the swelling and stuff. It will get better:)
I didn't wipe after my lis, I just used the shower head and baths for-ever...Lol
It may be just a little fragile to be wiping too much, I don't know though because I didn't wipe.
I would just be vigilant with the baths and rinsing for awhile:) It will just get better and better as the weeks go by.

i avoided wiping makem3 as well after LIS.
it wasn't until i went to TX for a visit where i had to wipe did i add to some of my current woe.
i would approach the question of using the nifedipine then.
all i know is that i was doing pretty good before 3 week followup for the most part, but then i got 2 anoscopies shoved my ass and it was not pleasant! ugh. i am pretty sure that it only helped to make my healing fissure open up again.
oh well.....
my next appt isn't until may unless if i have anything pressing to have her look at in between.
