Postby SurvivorX » 28 Nov 2015, 11:42

Anybody tried Levorag? My medic prescribed but its kind of expensive - USD 55 for amount for 10 days treatment. According to google however it has 80 % success rate so I was wondering if anyone tried it and can share how it is?

Hey Survivorx...I just did a bit of reading on levorag. Seems to have decent outcomes at least in the one trial report I read.

Do you know what the active ingredients are...i am interested in hearing more about this ointment...and its efficacy for acute and chronic fissures.

Keep us posted.

Interesting....i would love to hear how it works for you. I am in the same boat in terms of dealing with the fissure for more than a year...so am very interested.

My only note of caution though comes from the web site of levorag where it says:

"Thanks to its triple action, protective, soothing and healing, Levorag Emulgel is an effective a coadjuvant in the symptomatic treatment of anal fissures. Thanks to its formulation, Levorag is indicated for prolonged use, is easy to use and not oily."

My concern is that it is billing itself as a "coadjuvant in the symptomatic treatment..."

Coadjuvant basically means: A treatment that enhances an existing medical regimen, as a pharmacological agent added to a drug to increase or aid its effect.

Symptomatic means: symptoms and not the causes.

So it seems that Levorag may, by their own declaration, be helpful in dealing with some symptoms (not sure which ones, itching? burning?) when used alongside an existing medical regimen...but does not necessarily address the underlying causes and factors of the AF.

All that said....if you give it a try please let us know what your experience is like.
Thanks,

I ordered 10 days of Levorag today after reading your post. I've been using Nifedipine for 5 weeks and it doesn't seem to be doing much for me. I'm better than I used to be but far from normal and progress has stalled. Maybe this will complete the healing. This looked a little questionable but I'm desperate. Please continue to post your results.

I finished my 10-day supply of levorag today. There was a little blood on the applicator so obviously I'm not completely healed. They recommend 20 days but I only tried 10 because its kinda expensive @ $47 for 10 days. It also took about 6 weeks to get to my door. I can't tell exactly how effective it was because I was healing before starting it. I still have the fissure but it has gotten better over the last 10 days. I would say it probably helped but its just so hard to tell since I was already healing before I started using it. I haven't had any setbacks over the last 10 days but I've also finally learned to avoid things that cause me problems. It does come in individual doses with a good applicator.

Sorry for not responding earlier. I ordered it online from generalfarmacia.com, which looked a little sketchy. It came from somewhere in Europe and took a long time to come in, but I did finally get it and my card was charged appropriately.

Re: Anybody tried Levorag?

In November 2020. I noticed some problems "down under" . Since I already pass ( 2 yrs ago) through Fistulae "hell" with not 100% successful seton placement, I figured out that is some small wound bleeding, especially after hard BM.
Unfortunately, in mid December, it kicks hard! couple hours after BM , pain was hard. I tried standard remedy ( Cicatridina, ProktisM, standard Faktu) . But, placing that on wrong place (too deep) and irritated by rough "tools" (tubes ), on Christmas eve i end at anorectal special surgery hospital. Even before exam, I know what is wrong, since symptoms are " by the book" . And diagnose was too.
" Fussureae in ano, chronica" . Therapy: surgery !
Here I must give you an advise ! Try to avoid to visit surgeon, first ! Unfortunately, most of specialist for ano-rectal area , are - surgeons! Try to find some internist , since they will suggest conservative method first. If you ask surgeon -they will suggest -cut ! Regardless you have just headache:)
So; diagnose was set, costs presented. surgeon is famous and respected, no reason to be suspicious.
But, on exit, I ask " OK, scalpel is always ready. can we tra something else ?"
"Oh yes; chamomile sitz-bath, anesthetic cream !"
" and what about diet ?"
" No, it is not necessary!"
Man! What a wrong answer! Bad diet make me this bloody hell ! to much food, too much seating, not enough water ... !
On the same evening, I declare -WAR !
I decide not to go under knife, except pain will exhaust me totally!
For war, I need some weapons ! Internet is full of various ointment , all promising miracle. From garlic to expensive creams. But, from experience ( treatment with cheap domestic medicine ) I learn that, in the most cases- what costs -works! So, probably in specific mental state, caused by pain , I decide to take the most expensive . Levorag .
with price of 60 EUR per box, enough for 10 days , and with my salary of 1000 EUR ( East Europe, Balkans) - that price is even higher !
But, I add some support: a big wash bowel, Chamomile flower, psyllium and -water.
So, we start . Fist and the most important - The Diet! you need to reduce quantity of food intake ( I am a big guy with good appetite) . logic is simple: what goes in, must go out .
In fact, it was not so big challenge- after hard pain episode, you loose any need for food . but, period of calm are dangerous. I have bad luck that I start my war just after Christmas (food), than I have birthday (again food), than New Year ...
on January 2nd , I was lay (on stomach, it is the best position to relax sphincter) crying and dying, and saying prayers to God-o-Mighty itself !
you will need ate least 2-3 days to clean your colon from "residuals of the luxury" , and to wait to diet kicks-in.
diet was simple- no hard food, nothing that can not be transformed in stomach to soft creamy " product". no white bread, no sweet, cakes, chocolate, sodas, coffee, hot or spicy food, spirits. In the morning. water, plus one with psyllium ( husks of the Plantago ovata plant's seeds). later , warm yogurt, eventually with see-through piece of toast. You need soft bowel, but not explosive and repetitive liquid diarrhea. I tried, and is very good, a grinded flax seed, left in some water overnight . it will coat your poop with some "slime" . awful, but works . good think with , both, Psyllium and flax is that have no taste- so, it is not some joy , but you can swallow it .
avoid laxatives- especially one with Selenium! You do not need to clean colon. You need to relax anal gland from "hard work" and to allow small fissure wound to heal by natural way ( only possible) .
Lunch - just soup, eventually some potage. Vegetables recommended by fiber content are good, but can create gasses, and send you in toilette for "falls alarm" . if you need something sweet, take prunes. as dryer- that is better.
and, of course- water ! 2,5 liters is minimum. Soft bowel is based on water. Psyllium itself make stool soft, by soaking water. So, it need something to-soak !
Finally -Levorag ! In the beginning, I make some mistakes, inserting it too deep. and, just after BM.
Application after BM have some logic, since you are "opened" and sphincter is relaxed . But, after 2 hours , when "show goes on" , you will sorry, since BM pain + clumsy insertion...
So, after few days, I applied it in the morning ,and late afternoon. twice a day, always after miracle warm sitz bath! It is bit uncomfortable to make sitz 3-4 times a day, but, believe me, it helps so much and so fast!
How I do that : boil water in cattle , make strong tea with chamomile (flower, not bags) . Put one small stool in shower cabin, wash basin on top of it, and fill it with strained tea. since quantity of tea is too small to cover bottom, I add some warm water, just to make water warm, but not hot ! You do not want to make some burns on already wounded place ! And, no matter how painful is my "after BM episode" - it helps.
After initial clumsiness, I find right way to apply Levorag : First, take tube in your palm, and shake it with nozzle downwards , to move cream toward tip .
Application pose: no panties, one leg on the edge of bath tube or toilet , slightly bend your knees, and emulate like you want to push your bowel !
Than, put some cream on you smallest finger ( no nails, no hangnail !), and apply it on anal opening, slightly penetrating with finger , gently, very gently! , toward sphincter . Than, try to expand it , little bit, circling with fingertip.
Then there is a trick: with free hand insert tube nozzle just aside your finger (still in the anal gland) . As soon as nozzle is in, pull out finger . Do not push nozzle by force! Rather press tube, to extract some cream , making nozzle penetration easier . Levorag does not recommend to put entire nozzle inside , since tip will go through sphincter , missing fissure (typically located prior muscle) . But, part of active components of Levorag have task to relax sphincter muscle . So, I usually go with nozzle all way down, than squeeze some cream in sphincter area, and after that, pull back for 1cm ( finger width) and squeeze the remaining content of tube. In the begging you will have feeling that tube is almost empty, and that there is not enough cream inside. But, you will be surprised- there is more than enough material ! Finally, when you will a out to empty tube , bend tube for 90 degrees, to use as much as possible cream . Hold tube pressed ( if you release it while still in anus, it will suck cream back !)
Remove tube, gently. Than, squeeze what is left in tube, to index finger ( you will be surprised how much left in tube ) and apply it in your anal gland, manually. do not worry if you make some mess around. Levorag is not based on glycerin or greae, it lloks like oil, so, does not make to many mess on panties, and is easy to wash .
And, FINNALY results - after 3 days, I feel some progress. And glimpse of optimism .
unfortunately, it dos not go so fast.
But, I continue with treatment- what I can lose? Surgery is always waiting .
After 5-6 days, I manage to fix my BM cyclus, to every 3-rd day, usualy afternoon, so I can suffer at home.
BM +2 hrs "drama" I susaly spent in bedroom, laying on my stomach .
And performing an exercise for sphincter relaxing : deep inhaling and counting to five, and than , in same tempo, exhausting air back . It helps you to make some movement with stomach musculature, relaxing("opening" ) sphincter.
After 10 days, I do not need painkiler during episode, just warm sitz bath .
after some 30 days, it looks better, day by day.
And than, one afternoon, after 2 hrs of hectic waiting for "show" - nothing !
But, whoever pass through fissure hell, will skip "high-fives" !
today is march 6th. I have no pain, no bleedeing. I am still using Levorag, but reduced to one tube per day, in two "shots". I relax my diet ( and this is not good, since warning alerts me immediately) , but water and psyllium are mandatory .
So far-so god.
I am planning to use one more box ( I spent in total 4-5 boxes) and than to continue with some cheaper medicine, probably based on St John's-wort, or some herbal mix .
and , diet , of course.

So, to make long short- Levorag works . But, not alone . Fissure is not headache to be healed with one pill .
