Back from surgery!

Postby val » 15 Jun 2011, 09:41

Well, that wasn't too bad - I know I will be saying differently once the local anaesthetic wears off though, it happened before!!
They didn't have to put a seton in as it hadn't quite reached the muscle, so it was just layed open, phewwwwwww!!
It's been packed with something which HAS to come out tomorrow, the nurse said it had to be pulled out if it didn't come out with soaking it. I feel sick thinking of that - anyone any experience of that??
Also she wants me to stuff some gauze thingys up there into the wound tomorrow when the other packing comes out - EEEEEEEKKK! No way Jose!! Sounds horrible and I am way too squeamish to do that! Image Image Image

Well done Val, what did you have done?
Were you just given a local rather than a general Anaesthetic?
I am due for surgery next week and really not looking forward to it!!

Thanks Andy and Cheryl!
No, I had a general anaesthetic - no needles they gassed me which was great! I have a needle and blood phobia!
What surgery are you having Andy?

Val
They also said they need to have a look first to see if Botox is the best option, but on the letter i had from the consultant it says Botox and fissurectomy, so will i need stitches for this?
Not looking forward to it at all!!!

Sorry, I just saw your other post where you said what was wrong - duh, I am a bit drugged up still though LOL!
No, I dont thinkyou'll have stitches, they just clear it out to make it smooth, thats what they've just done to mine , and I also had a fissure that was cleaned out, which was behind the fistula.
Even if you do get stitches for any reason, they are dissolvable and dont hurt too much - i had them before with the skintag removal.

YEAH VAL!!!!!!!!!!!! NO SETON!! Image
That is a real relief, eh? This is really good news. I know that you are not looking forward to the packing and unpacking, but you can do it, girl! Maybe your hubby can help you. There are a few boardies here who had to deal with packing. Maurice, actually, had packing for quite a while. Perhaps she can offer some advice (her mom's a nurse too, I believe)
Oh I am really so happy for you! I know the seton was freaking you out, understandably. Now you can focus on healing. I'm doing a happy dance for you
