Botched lis

Postby Mindhex » 25 May 2023, 12:54

I'm convinced my lis was botched. I had a relatively small chronic fissure for about a year now. Had lis surgery three months ago and my bowel movements are still painful without miralax and I can't even fit a small anal dialator in me like i could before. Its like they tightened up my anus instead of loosening it. I am absolutely devastated and i suspect my surgeon let one of his students perform my lis cause i never even saw him in the surgical office day of surgery. I'm feeling so heartbroken and mentally unstable right now! I've been dealing with this for two damn years now! I just wanted relief. I know my partner is upset with me we can't even have sex anymore! This has been horrible for me.

How are you feeling mindhex? Have you considered a second opinion? I’m still in pain. Dilation not seemingly improving things. Trying to get my head around it all. Some days I’m positive some days it’s horrible. I hope you are ok
AF following skin tag surgery Feb 2022

sigmoidoscopy & EUA Sept 2022 no fissure found
2nd opinion Jan 2023 fissure diagnosed, diltiazem - allergic

Also I’m sure you know this but breathing is key with the dilation - breath in and hold and consciously relax your lower area - the only time I can inch my dilator in is during this deep breath in and hold and slowwwww exhale

Bloody frustrating I know. I’m seeing my doc Thursday. I wonder what next for me. Dilation has given minor pain improvements but not much. Still very uncomfortable….

Did you have a colorectal surgeon or general surgeon do your LIS? I know you said you think it was the assistant. Call the hospital and find out. Where are you located?

If you think they are stalling and you are still miserable get a second opinion.

If your wound is clean but needs time to heal then you have to let it heal. The LIS doesn't fix the wound and I doubt any surgeon can hurry it up for you. I can assure you if you don't slow down to allow it time to heal you will be in a permanent state of hell. And you should try your best to reduce your stress about it or it will not heal. Otherwise get a second opinion if you can (who knows how long these doctors are booked out) and let it continue to heal.
Fissure June 2014 - Oct 2020
Botox, skin tag removed - Feb 2015
Levator Ani Sep 2014 - Feb 2016 (left job, cured!)
LIS, skin tags removed - Oct 2020
Fissure 100% healed - Nov 2020
Still healed and happy as of October 2024!
