I'm sitting here with my cup of spicey herbal tea (no rooibos) and I had my first Bm of the day. No blood and not much discomfort either. I know I am healing. Just very very slowly.
Boy would I love to meet a doc who doesn't make you feel rushed and has a good supportive bedside manner.

I'm a nervous-jervous this a.m. Trying to get ready for my appointment.
FTR, I haven't had any blood with this thing - just agony, pain, misery, throbbing.
I hope my doctor doesn't find anything else wrong, and I hope my visit with him is a good one.

That's interesting Sweet. That it hurts so bad with no blood. My CRS was saying yesterday that the pain varies a great deal from person to person, and doesn't seem dependent on the level of damage done.
Just wAAAYY to many nerves down there I guess.

While I would cry too if a dr. treated me the way yours did... Yikes... Essentially killing their hope, there is some merit to what your CRS said about anterior fissures and the success of LIS. There is some evidence in the research to suggest that chronic anterior fissures may involve a defect of the external anal sphincter and less so the internal anal sphincter. While this does not mean LIS wouldn't be successful, the percentage of successful healing may be far lower than with posterior fissures. I know I have a study somewhere on this and I'll try to find it in the vast library of bookmarks I've collected!

Any type of information on this is always appreciated. --- It's amazing how that one area - between the rectum and the outside of our backsides - can be so delicate and full of nerves.
woi - no blood. Not this time or the first time (3 yrs. ago). Occasionally, I have seen little, tiny streaks of blood - but I've never had tremendous bleeding.

I found the info on anterior fissures and external anal sphincter defect which is related to squeeze pressure and not necessarily due to hypertonia of the internal anal sphincter. Makes it seem worthwhile to have anal manometry done prior to considering LIS in the case of a chronic anterior fissure, and most especially in a woman who has had children.
