Thanks Wounded. I had my EUA and wound debridement yesterday. The anesthesia was an awful process for me. Not like last time but rather like the time before when I experienced a lot of discomfort like heart palpitations and pain throughout my body and severe dizziness/drunken-like feeling. Luckily it only lasted maybe 7 seconds but waking up was also very unpleasant. No getting sick though which is good. I wasn't as sore as after the LIS but very oddly I am sore on the right side, not the left, where I believe the work was done. I have been sore on that side for a long time and nobody seems to see anything. It feels like a fissure. Hubby looked down there for me last night and said it was a bit swollen but not nearly like after LIS. He can't really see the new wound though as we didn't do any prying.

The biggest problem I am having is constipation. I NEVER not go in the morning and this AM NOTHING. A bit of an urge but seemingly not enough to go and try. Don't know if it's fear as I can only imagine how much it's going to burn past a patch of open skin (size of a thumb nail was the plan) plus it is bleeding a fair amount and I am so afraid of making it worse. Plus it is already hurting. To top things off I was told that I have a dissolvable sponge up there! He didn't do this last time and I swear I can feel it. Like a fullness and seems like it's preventing my BM from coming down there. Are you familiar with these things or know how long until they dissolve? I am baffled as to why he used one as my understanding was that the procedure was on the LIS site, OUTSIDE my anus. I wonder what he did inside. He told me if there was anything unexpected he would come talk to me after but he did not. I have very bad anismus and can only poop like liquid BM, certainly not a sponge. This has seriously stressed me out. Plus they gave me a bit of morphine too which they did not do last time. I really hate how we get no control over these things :( Sorry for the long rant!

Hi msimon. So glad it is over for you. No need to say sorry. I was hoping to hear from you and was glad you were able to write today. Sorry anesthsia was hard for you. Although it would have been nice for the doctor to have talked to you try to take comfort in the fact that he must not have run into anything unexpected and that would be good.

I would not worry too much about missing one day as long as you are taking plenty of laxative and drinking enough water. Anasthsia can slow down the whole GI tract. I don't know much about the sponge. Maybe to absorb drainage or to stop bleeding? I am sure it will dissolve quickly. It is getting smaller and smaller with each passing minute. It must feel very uncomfortable for you. Try not to stress too much over the first BM (easy for me to say huh) . I bet some fissure pain has been as bad and you handled that. I try to remember it is only a matter of seconds while the stool passes that spot and then it is over and the after pain is easier to handle.

What were your discharge instructions? Can you soak in the tub? Do you have pain meds? Antibiotic? Was there a diagnosis on there? I wonder if you are still numb on the left side and that is why you are only feeling some soreness on the right side? I am keeping you in my prayers tonight m. :hugs:

Okay, I had to Google Anismus.

Also Woundedspirit, you are so sweet -- I refer to above comment, but I've seen this Kind behaviour from you on many occasions.

Thanks for updating us msimon. I hope that you have a BM soon. As wounded spirit mentioned, the anesthesia apparently can slow down the digestive system. I wish I knew something about dissolvable sponges, I never knew they did anything like that. There's a lot I never knew before I had these problems. I'll be praying for you to have a painless BM!

Thanks Wounded. I really needed that. You are so sweet. I guess the sponge must have dissolved as I just had a solid BM so far.

I was told to take baths, use antibiotic ointment and that's about it. Same pain meds as before that make me feel really sick (Torodol) or ibuprofen/acetaminophen, which just don't touch the pain. I was told I was having wound debridement and the CRS said it would feel like a bad sunburn down there. It's not so much the tissue itself but what it does to my muscles. They are so tight and will not relax. I had a horribly forceful/strained solid BM today through ripping and tearing and am still blocked up. I did not have this reaction to the anesthetic last time at all. If the muscles won't relax I don't see how this is going to improve. I think it's my pelvic floor/external sphincter, and the part of the internal that was not severed in the LIS spasms too. Has all along. I guess that is why botox worked better for me. Don't know what I am going to do now. Can one still heal like this?

M - glad to hear the sponge is gone. Ya, that is a whole issue in itself with the pelvic floor. I just don't know much about that. Have you done a search on here? It helps me a lot when I can search a word and pull up all the conversations people have had about it on here. Just quessing but maybe some aggressive heat with both heating pad and tub baths for a few days might get you going in the right direction. Thinking that only because I know tense muscles respond to heat but I really don't know. Maybe you are on the right track with the Botox, maybe several consecutive times until you are at least healed? I am sure you have done an internet search as well. The one thing I do know is once you have a problem in that area you are never the same, thing never heal quickly, and new problems in the area arise very easily. Stay strong m. Praying for answers for both of us.

Thanks Wounded. I have learned so much about my pelvic floor issues over the 12+ years I have had them. Was well on my way to being nearly cured when I got this fissure. Used to get tiny little fissures once in a while that would heal up in days but the one the CRS gave me must have been really bad and this was around the time my botox doctor decided to quit treating me. Just up and decided that I didn't need that treatment anymore. Things just went downhill from there. Just seems like the more is done the worse I get. Heat usually is very good for me but I didn't want to start with that until 3 days post surgery as that is when the swelling peaks. Had a warmer bath today but I also have a nerve throbbing down there that doesn't like heat so I have also been trying ice, which may be helping. Thanks for the kinds words.

How have you been? What is the next step for you?

Oh ya I see what you are saying about waiting 3 days. It sounds like you have been through so much. I know how you feel about doing anything more as sometimes its seems the more you do the worse things can get. I hope you are doing better today. I have my EUA on Saturday and we will see what he thinks will be best for me. He thinks my first LIS was too conservative and that a second LIS is what I need as opposed to flap surgery but he said he could not make that determination until he has a proper look at things. So if I need the LIS, I am going to give consent just to go ahead and do it while I am under for the exam. If I need the flap it will be done at a later date. I could have 2 outcomes on Saturday, I just don't know which one yet. I am a bit worried about incontinence after a 2nd LIS but I seem to have been okay after the first so.. And to tell you the truth, at this point, if I were healed, in no pain and could have my life back, I would trade it if all I had to do was a bit of extra cleaning during the day. I mean I am not talking total incontinence but you know what I mean.

Yes, its feels like I have been though the ringer and really don't know how this is going to turn out. It's becoming so very hard to see it turning out well. All this severe pain, at a minimum, is leaving my nervous system with far too much to remember, and it will. It is feeling a lot like the hemorrhoidectomy I had 11 years ago that started all this pelvic pain for me. This beast that took me so many years to subdue is back stronger than ever. Thankfully, I have a new pelvic pain specialist team that is so caring and willing and ready to work with me when the time is right. I just know that healing the tissue is only going to be a small part for me, but no small feat, especially with the spasm I poop through. For the last 2 days I have had a raw pulsating free nerve in the surgical area firing and throbbing. I hope it is just dying and being all dramatic about it ;)

That's interesting that your EUA is on a Saturday. They don't do anything on a Saturday around here. Do you really like your CRS? I assume you trust his judgement re: your sphinter tone? I know what you mean about incontinence vs. pain. Many people seem to get to that point after suffering for so long. Do you know if the second LIS will be on the same side or the other side? Why wouldn't he do the flap the same day? Flap surgery sounds a lot more painful am I right?
