Ok thanks.. I'm taking optifiber right now. My stools are already pretty soft because of all of the veggies/fruit i am eating. Should i still take miralax? also, should i put something on it while i workout? something to maybe keep sweat away and keep things from irritating it? petroleum jelly? Thanks again guys

What has worked for me is miralax with dinner every night. If you have consistent soft poops then you obviously don't need miralax. As long as you are eating healthy. I eat almost a cap full of miralax with a hearty dinner every night like chicken, potatoes, green beans...then as soon as I wake up I have to poop and its soft.then fissure has all day and night to heal. It took two whole months or more of doing this for my spasms to go away though. Felt like forever! I don't put anything on my fissure and I walk about two miles a day.if you do take miralax just remember you might have to experiment with different amounts to find what works for you.

Is there anything i can put on it during the day or at night that speeds up the recovery process? I don't want to give up lifting weights. Thanks

Hi drew37619
Best advice is to see a doctor. As you have one in the family, why do you not chat with him. It is difficult for us to know whether you should give up weights or not, but usually it is better to do things in moderation when you are healing.
Better now that you see someone, than later when you are told you might have to give up weightlifting to really heal. We have all been 'guilty' of leaving things too late. Please, even if it is embarrassing, see a doctor, chat to your uncle. Just don't leave it. We will be here for you, to help, whenever. Image

It never hurts anymore. I was just trying to find out if it was normal to feel scratching/itching. It doesnt hurt during or after weight training. I keep the pressure in my gut, not my anus...

Straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak, at the Mayo Clinic:
Anal itching is a common condition. The itch, situated in your anus or on the skin just around your anus, is often intense and may be accompanied by a strong urge to scratch. You may find anal itching to be embarrassing and uncomfortable.
Also called pruritus ani (proo-RIE-tus A-nie), anal itching has many causes, such as skin problems, excessive washing or hemorrhoids.
If anal itching is persistent, talk with your doctor. With proper treatment and self-care measures, most people get complete relief from anal itching.

Pressure in your gut could be anything, but you need to chat to a doctor.

My fissure was itchy scratchy after being on miralax for a while. Wounds itch and scratch when they are trying to heal.

Savaici is right! Don't self diagnosed yourself. Maybe you should have a doctor look at it.
I always thought I have anal fissures, due to my symptoms are exactly like anal fissures.
But I'm wrong. I was in the E.R room yesterday, and the physican there do an anal exam, and he saw a thrombosed external hemorrhoid sticking out of my butt.
This certainly explain all the blood and pain that I experience during my bowel movement, and I do feel a lump on my anus too.
Savaici, may I ask how do you cope with your hemorrhoid?
Mine is so painful since it outside and it swollen. The M.D did prescribed me stool softerner, and hemorrhoid cream.
Now I'm worried, OMG I have hemorrhoid!! I have no money for surgery.
I love this site so much, eventhough I'm diagnosed with hems, I still want to stick around here, everyone here so nice. Thank you again Admin for this wonderful site.

Thanks for all the input. I'm 95% sure i'ts a fissure now because i can actually feel it. i run my finger across and it feels like a small tear. Hurts like one too. I don't know if it's getting better or not, i just started taking miralax last night so i hope that helps. I really don't want to give up weight training and i don't think i should have to since it doesnt hurt while i train. What are your thoughts on this? I also started putting some coconut oil on it every time i go into the bathroom.
