Fissure at 18...HELP :(

Postby drew37619 » 28 Apr 2013, 16:52

I'm 18 year old male with an anal fissure (or multiple). I don't know how it happened but it hurt really bad during a BM. I workout regularly doing heavy squats and deadlifts etc. and i can't imagine giving up weightlifting as it is practically my life right now. This fissure is going to be the death of me. The anxiety and depression is building up and i can hardly stand it! I heard coconut oil is good for fissures? Can i still workout? It seems like sweat is what irritates it, not the movements but i'm not sure. Having this issue at 18 is really getting to me and i'm reading these posts that people have them for months or even years?? It's been a while now since i've gotten the fissure. it DOESN'T hurt when i have a BM but it frequently itches (almost like something is scratching it a little). Sorry for the long post. I appreciate any feedback :/

Hi drew,
I'm also new to the site, welcome. I give you my two cents on your problem.
I believe you might have Hemorrhoid, and not fissure. Because you do weightlifting and you say it Does Not hurts during your BM, and you not mention feel spasm.
I have Anal fissures and I can tell you, it hurts like hell when I have my BM. During my BM, I feel like I poop out glass and razor blades. Yes, it that bad, because it tearing in the anus, just like a deep cut on your hands.
After the BM, I feel spasm for hours, sometimes even to the next morning. Spasm is because your anus muscles is pressing against the tearing wounds, so you feel pain even after BM.
Mine does not itches, it just hurts a lot. I even sometimes say "ouch, ouch" to myself, LOL!
Your condition you say no pain during BM, then it not fissures, it must be Hemorrhoid, because the swollen veins.
And you said you also do weightlifting, that also make me more sure you have Hemorrhoid. Many weightlifting people have Hemorrhoid.
Ofcourse, I am not doctor. Get a doctor to check it out for you to make sure. Just my opinions.

Thanks for your reply! about a month ago i think i did tear my anus because it hurt BAD during my BM and it bled afterwards as well. It doesn't hurt during my BM anymore, that's the reason i think it's an anal fissure or a healing anal fissure. any more thoughts? could it have torn and then now i'm just feeling itching/scratching because it's healing? it's stressing me out :/ thanks again for the reply.

Hemorrhoid bleeds, when you have BM, it bleeds, even without pain. Internal Hemorrhoid bleeds red blood, and no pain. External Hemorrhoid bleeds too, and you feel Pain, and you also feel a lump, bump at your anus.
Do you see red blood on the toilet water? If yes, and not feel pain, then it must be a Hemorrhoid.
But if you not see blood, and not hurt anymore. Then it should be just a healing fissure.
I got my fissures due to my bad eating habbit of a lot of meats, and no vegetables. Then I got constipated, and I strain, and push during my BM. Couple days like that, and it begin to tear and give me fissures.
How was your eating habbits? Are you constipated?
If you have fissures, I don't think weightlifting is a problem, because it just a cut. So if it heal, you should be fine lifting. But if it Hemorrhoid, then I think you shouldn't lift too heavy, because Hemorrhoid is swollen veins fill with blood, and if lifting alot of weight is pressing on it, it will pop and bleeds during your BM.
I'm not expert on this, I think other members on here will give you better advice. Some people here also have Hemorrhoid before.

I actually think it was because of my diet. i was eating tons of meats and nuts and cheeses and not enough fruits and veggies to gain muscle. But now I've been eating more fruits and veggies. Also, i heard hydro cortisone can help. feedback?

Hi Drew37619,  and  Image  to the forum.
We are not able to diagnose your problem; that is the role of your doctor and would suggest that you make an appointment to see either a GP,or a Colon and Rectal Surgeon (CRS).
Hydrocortisone is usually given for hemorrhoids, not for anal fissures.
Please read through the many posts on here on diet, drinking water, fiber, laxatives and more.
Just a guess, and nothing more than that, is that you are going through a healing anal fissure, as you said that you previously experienced pain when having a BM, but now you are only experiencing itching. Hemorrhoids, in my experience, do not cause much itching unless they are inflamed.  I have had three surgeries for hemorrhoids and itching was not one of the sensations. Excruiating pain, yes...
You are only 18, the fissure - if you have one - has more of a chance to heal if you catch it early (you don't say how long you had/have had it). So make an appointment to see your doctor - about the itching too which could be a number of things - and keep in touch with us to say how you are doing.
All the best!

Scratchy feeling is usually the feeling a fissure gives you. If you have neither pain nor blood, it most definitely sounds like you are healing. But, as in the advice above, your best bet is to see a doctor. Itching can be a few other things besides a fissure.
Here is a link to posts connected with 'itch' on the Forum.
