I looked at the post op instructions from my CRS and it says to eat a normal diet, but not to change it to cause too hard or too loose stools. Only psyllium husk is recommended, no softeners or laxatives. Only if your stools are hard right after surgery, because many people have a hard time with the first BM and can't go for a few days they recommend temporary use of colace or milk of magnesia. He explained if you don't get the muscles used to be stretched in a gentle way with the bulking but softening properly of the husk, then every time your stool turns a little hard or bulky you will be back to square one.
My advice missy is to simply give it a try.

Before him, I ve also gone to one GI doc and two GPs and all of them said fiber and water. Don't allow constipation or diarrhea.

Great thank you it makes sense normalise your stools most are caused by a non normal stool I've spent 4.5 years babying this fissure an taking softeners everyday having stools 5-6-7 on the chart an everytime I would pass a normal 4 or a bm somewhere between 4-3 type bm due to not enough water or softeners the fissure would tear again always around my period too how long have you had your fissure?

9 months and things are getting better, but I like you was taking loads of magnesium causing loose stools. I would achieve no pain for a week, then eat normal on the weekend and retear. My muscles are still acting up, I recently dropped the magnesium. Will see how it goes. My CRS said that the muscles will settle with this therapy in time. But this "in time" thing is making me very impatient and anxious. It's been too long.

The therapy being psyllium husk water diet formed soft bms 3-4 on the chart an that's it just making sure I'm not missing anything? We're both on this journey of formed bms I just hope my muscle isn't in a non fixable state with just good bms because of how long my muscle has not had to stretch for 4.5 years!
