Hey Steve, thank goodness you are improving! I was saddened when I read your post yesterday, so I am very happy to hear that generally things are getting much better for you.
Great news!

Thanks cheryl and phil..
You know, it's been a tough ride but I have to admit, I'd do it again in a heartbeat, sure there's been plenty of post-op pain but it's payed off in the long run.

This will be my last post in this thread.
8 weeks post-op..
I truly believe that I've turned a corner, my sphincter is a lot calmer and passing BM's is a breeze, the majority of the time there is NO pain whatsoever, but sometimes there's a little bit of discomfort if I have lots of BM's which is to be expected, my life no longer revolves around the bathroom it's kind of weird that it doesn't because it's what I was used to for the past 2 years or so.
My "now" diet consists of just about anything, I can eat pizza, chips, pies and even cheese (in small amounts) I'm still in the experimental stages though, the fissure diet is no longer required as I no longer feel I need it, I still drink copious amounts of water and have some fibre intake which I think is enough.
I've also stopped the Movicol as of 4 days ago and substituted it with Fybogel (Ispaghula Husk) which bulks up the stool, I never thought I'd give it up but thought it was time to give my bowels a well deserved break plus to see how my digestive system reacted without it, sure my stools are a lot firmer but not rock hard and funnily enough they don't cause any pain, I seemed to have more discomfort with the soft/runny stools, but I can honestly say there's no pain associated with well formed stools and the bonus is that there's not a lot of wiping/dabbing required after BM which keeps my ass happy!
Finally, I would like to thank everyone that gave me support through all this you have been the BEST!! this forum R O C K S.

Hey Steve-
That is awesome news. Image Hopefully, the last two years of fissure hell will become a distant memory.
I also find well formed (not rock hard) stool to cause the least amount of pain.

Thanks dawn and Paul..
Dawn, I'm not going anywhere, I will always be around regardless of whether I'm healed or not, so I'll be right here when you've had your surgery, don't worry Image
Paul, thanks and I hope you're doing well, the pain is just a distant memory now, I'm just so relieved that I no longer live in the bathroom! BTW, it's right about the well formed stools, I'll never go back to soft stools if I can help it

Hey NG, Thanks buddy, hope you're doing great by now, I'm over 90% better I'd say, my decision to stop the Miralax came as a result of my poop being too soft and burning like hell plus I was getting some leakage so I thought it was time to toughen up the stools, although it hurts a bit it isn't as bad as the Miralax stools, I'd like to say I'm 100% healed but I'm not, I guess 90% or above is good enough for now.
