Going in an outdoor spa with a fissure

Postby Cporosus1 » 14 Apr 2017, 20:35

I have an outdoor spa at my house and I'm wondering if it is safe for me to go into the tub with a fissure. I went in last week when I thought my fissure was a hemmorhoid and I had no problems but I was wondering- am I risking infection? I know my spa has chlorine but it didn't irritate it so I'm not worried on that front, but I am worried about potential infection from the water. Is this an issue? Or is it pretty unlikely? Thanks!

Hot tubs often harbour bacteria that could cause problems in an open wound. I would stick with a sitz bath that can be washed with soap when you are done using it.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy
