Tabby - I&D stands for incision and drainage. They can do it on any body part and it is just done to relives preassure and pain from things like abcesses, infection, and in Lecia's case - thrombosis.
I would love to chat sometime! I have been pretty down lately...

One more question for Kim & the LIS/surgery gang -
How long did you stay on stool softeners post LIS? Did you stay on your fissure diet while healing? Did you use MOM or stool softeners post LIS???

I am still pretty much on the fissure diet most days -- yes, I stayed on it! But I dropped the stool softener (colace) after 1 month, I was doing so well. I could never use MOM, because mushy stools burned me too badly. But for that one month after surgery I continued to use the colace.

I took my flaxoil aloe vera juice and MOM for a while, but strangely enough, when I was still in the hospital after the LIS (i was in overnight) they didnt really offer anything high fibre and my first meal was a tomato ommelette! When i went for my 3 week check up, my CRS told me to go back to my normal pre-fissure diet, which I did, with no problems really. But then my diet is full of fruits and veggies, all good stuff anyway. While i had the fissure i had the same EVERY day- muesli, wholemeal toast with peanut butter, and salmon with rocket spinach and watercress! After the LIS even the thought of any of that made me queasy!!
So i think its a personal choice - what works for one persons tummy might not be right for someone else's. Just do what feels right to make everything comfortable.
