Hi GG I'm not strong I sob in agony and roll on the floor screaming. But I am grateful everyday that I am here for my children. I took my son swimming Friday and go out with my daughter at least 3 times a week. I am blessed and I am happy. But I am also downright annoyed that after 18 months I'm still like this...I just pray I don't have to fight too hard for the colostomy and they give me Botox while I'm waiting

Thanks Jim,
I guess I do need to give it more time and was warned it would be a long and rocky road....I'm just not sure I want to walk it anymore....spent so many years being ruled by what I can and can't eat sometimes in pain, this fissure is the last straw..always in pain now..just would like to see dome improvement and a pain level 7 after 2 BMs okk one was boiling hot liquid doesn't really feel like any progress. But it will be ages for me to get a colostomy so I guess that gives me time to see improvement.

MPB: I can understand your frustration. I can only imagine how difficult it is to not only have the fissure but IBS and Crohns as well. Thats a triple shot of hell I am sure. They say this to shall pass. I believe that.

You are very strong mpb, this would bring anyone to their knees and you're able to continue on.

The doctors should understand that this is about your quality of life - their job is to give you the best one possible. I think they will understand your asking for a colostomy - like you said, there should be no harm in booking it, and if it turns out you are able to heal and don't need it then all the better!

Thanx Jim....it will pass even if I have to take matters into my own hands to get a colostomy...I will get better.
That's what I'm hoping for GG I know from friends with crohns how hard it is to get a colostomy but I'm hoping the fact I have lost nearly 8 stone and my son has put on nearly 3 that they will see how bad the fissure combined with everything else has made not only my life but my son who depends on me.
To be honesty after my last BM the pain has gone down to a 4 in less than 5 hours so that is a bit of progress...at least I can sleep tonight
Thanks for your kind words they really do help x

Hi MPB,
I feel exactly like you about a colostomy. I asked for it right away, but my CSR just laughed it off and then when I pressed, she said it would be "medical malpractice" for her to do that. How is it not medical malpractice to leave me in such pain for so long? Honestly, they don't care.

I called last week asking for something for pain, anything... they prescribed lidocaine cream. Are you kidding? That's not a solution, it only helps a bit, but I am still in pain! I really want an epidural, at this point. Sorry to sound like a broken record, but all I talk about is pain these days... I could not drive my son to soccer today :(

When we are in this much pain there is not much else our brain can let us talk about and for me at least this is the only place I can vent really.
I will have to fight to get a colostomy....not eat basically....even though I have crohns and IBS they will only give it to people who have cancer or who's bowel condition makes them bed bound for months or who go under 6 stone or who are risking otgan failure by malnutrition. Otherwise they say they are changing your life and health for the worst. Ha let them try living with a fissure whilst going to the toilet ten times....that will show them life changing. I know people on my crohns group who had them because of fissure and fistula and they were so happy they were back swimming and running after a month....things they hadn't done in years. It's against medical ethics to make people suffer yet that is what they are doing to us

MPB And MISTY I agree 100% about these doctors. They take thousands of dollars from us then basically want to brush us off saying oh it will get better within a week. Yea and I just won the lottery. The next time I think I need a doctor I will go to the ER and by law they have to treat you whether you can pay or not at least thats the law in The states.

Unfortunately it's not like that in the UK Jim, yes A&E will treat you but unless they class it as an emergency for example life threatening then they give you pain killers and send you to your GP which ends up as a waste of sometimes 9/10 hours.
Well I'm still in pain today around a 4 from last nights numerous BMs can't take the gabapentin as it makes me sleepy and that's not good where I work so hoping it wears off soon. But managed to go out for breakfast...okk 1 sausage and 1 slice of bread... With my daughter and do the shopping before work.
Here's hoping no BM today and the pain doesn't get worse.
