New to here from the UK and need advice

Postby Anylpain82 » 21 Jan 2013, 18:58

Hi I am new on here and need some advice. I have had internal piles or 10 years and I had a very large anal tag for 9 years.
Now here is the stupid thing I did. I was so embarrassed of my tag that it got to the point where I had just had enough. It itched, was difficult to get clean after a BM and had occasional pain, but mostly to be honest I couldn't stand the thought of my partner looking down there and when we split up I was mortified at the thought of someone else seeing it. So I tied it with dental floss which didn't work and cased pain and massive mounts of bleeding due to the size. You see although I have had two children I just couldn't face talking to my doctor about it.
Long story short after seeing four different emergency doctors as I had a high temp and felt faint due to the blood loss and pain, I had to have emergency surgery in October. This is without a doubt the most stupid thing I have ever done and I have been paying for it ever since. When I had the tag removal surgery they also removed a internal pile.
Now every time I go to the toilet it is either rock solid (sometimes I can't go for up to four days) and hurts like hell or I have diarrohea. On the few occasions my BM is 'normal' i still hurts. I can't even slightly part my bum cheeks without it feeling like something is ripping and the last time I saw the doctor ten days post surgery she said it looked normal.
I just want my life back but don't know what to do. I am back with my ex partner and it is affecting our sex life due to positions I can stand due to the leg parting and anal sex is a massive no go.
Please could anyone help with anything that could make things a little better.

I'm so sorry to hear about all this pain you're in. It really sounds like you need to be seen by a doctor again to get a more accurate picture of what is going on and the source of the pain. Since you haven't been seen in awhile, you really should be looked at.
In the meantime, try to manage a healthy diet and keep stools soft and easy to pass. Usually, some combination of fruits, vegetables, lean meats like chicken or turkey, or fish, are good places to start, along with a stool softener if necessary. Drink plenty of water.
Take warm sitz baths and keep the area clean after bm's.
But really, a doctor is really needed, preferably a specialist in colorectal surgery. While going to a doctor for these problems is never pleasant and none of us wants to have to do it, really, it is important to put the embarrassment aside for the few moments it takes for a doctor to take a peek. It isn't any different than going to a doctor if you had a deep cut on our arm that needed tending to.
Please let us know how things go for you.
