Oatmeal

Does eating oatmeal give any of you folks loose BMs? I like oatmeal and want to eat it regularly but it seems like I am having more pudding and fewer logs these days?

I eat oatmeal EVERY morning for breakfast. I wouldn't think it would make a person loose as there are 4 grams of fibre in one bowl, but according to my oatmeal container 2 are soluble (safer) and 2 are non-soluble. Could it be something else causing you to be looser??

It could be, but I noticed the same thing while I had my fissure -- I thought oatmeal would be ideal but I was too soft when I ate it back then, too.
I have been eating less of the whole grain bread, maybe I am missing that fiber?

My info says that breads are stool-thickening foods. What do you usually eat for dinner at night??

What kind of oats are you eating Kim ??
I eat alot of oats - porridge in the morning , oatcakes for lunch and maybe scurly with some dinner Image
I dont find an issue with being loose Image oats are suppose to add a little bulk - a good allrouder so i am wondering what else have you been eating ??
Maybe your body is just having a clear out Image
Or maybe the oats do not agree with you Image

What about eating cheese or a grilled cheese sandwich? When I am loose, I also eat rice and applesauce and both can help to firm up the stools as well as tapioca.

Yeah, oatmeal might not be your thing. I wonder if you try eating steel cut oats and not instant oatmeal. That might make a difference and maybe but a nan nan on top??
