Flap surgery definatly going ahead!

Postby owmybum » 13 May 2014, 10:27

Well, I had my appointment yesterday with mr W to discuss a few issues that were bothering me about the flap operation.
We both agreed that this is the only treatment left open to me, as I have a low anal resting pressure.
He was really great.... Took the time to listen to me, explained everything again, in fine detail... Including diagrams! Acknowledged the fact I may have hypermobility syndrome, and fragile skin... And was prepared to cut and stitch me super carefully to give me the best chance to heal.

The waiting list is around 8 weeks.... And I have a holiday booked mid June..... So I'm thinking it will be done early July.

He said he would keep me in for a couple of days complete bed rest to give the flap the best chance of adhering with no disturbance... Then I was to rest up for 2 weeks ideally... With no sitting.

I'm feeling much happier about having the procedure done now.... And I hope with all my heart this is the answer for me and gets rid of the ghastly fissure for good.

Oh.... And he is going to do something with the mountain range too ( my hemmy s!!)

Fingers crossed I can hold out on an even keel till then!!

Sounds good OMB. I know you've probably told me this a million times by now, but is your fissure posterior midline (the most common spot) or is it off to one side, or anterior (midline towards the lady parts). And then, what shape flap will you be having? House, Y-V, V-Y, Diamond, or some other odd shape I am unaware of perhaps?

Hi. OMB I'm so glad you're finally going to have your surgery. It's been over a year since I had mine and I'm glad I finally did it. I hope everything goes well for you. Best wishes Suzy.

Thanks. I actually regret not having a house flap myself, because it provides more fresh tissue and also is under less tension it is totally mobilized instead of stretched as the is the case v-y flap. If I end up getting re-flapped, I'll be pushing for the house flap.

Hi OMB, forgot to ask, did your CRS give you a time-frame on how long you'd be out of work and/or how long before you'd be fully healed?

How are things with you now asdf?? How long has it been since your op??
Did you hear back about the kenalog injection??

Hi OMB,

That's great that you won't have to worry and can just relax and heal without pressure. I'm still on medical leave from my job because I'm not healed, and it's getting awkward because I initially gave the impression that I would be back MUCH sooner...but my priority is healing so I'm not going to worry about it. My CRS has been very cool about that, I think because he knows that I had 3 surgeries and numerous procedures all fail, and am now considering a house flap, so he said he is fine writing me out.

Since I wrote the Kenalog guy a desperate email begging for the injection, I haven't noticed a spot of blood again. It's now been 10 days, and I only have 8 HBOT treatments left, so I figure I'll just see how long I can go without blood before calling the office and begging for the procedure again. Pain levels actually were down mildly as well the past week, but yesterday was painful again, and today as well, so who knows really.
