Thank you Sav!
Day 5: repeat of day 4 for the most part but lots of new itchiness!
Day 6: pain free Bm with some pain after, headed it off with Valium, half a Vicodin, and a nice long hot bath. Note to self:a morning bath on some good drugs is a lovely way to pass some time! Felt great after the bath, no spasms after about 9am which is a big improvement. Also my bms haven't been as soft as they had to be pre surgery and it doesn't seem to be setting me back at all, such a relief. I still feel pretty itchy and I hope it is a healing itch! My mood is much improved in the last few days as I've made progress, really feeling like there is a light at the end of this tunnel. Going to enjoy my Memorial Day in the pool with family. I hope the rest of you have a lovely holiday!

Day 7: painless bm, some irritation after, valium/half Vicodin/bath afterwards. No spasms after, feeling really great!
Day 8: Hard plug followed by a larger than average BM. Not exactly sure why as I've basically kept to my diet, miralax, colace, and benefiber regimen. Anyways, this sucker would've tore me right open 9 days ago and caused spasms for at least a week before I recovered. Instead, it came out with some discomfort but zero blood and zero spasms after. Maybe a little irritation but nothing much. I really can't believe it. If things continue this way, it's like LIS was a miracle cure for me. So far, very happy that I got the surgery! Although I know I should be conservative though as these AFs take months and months to heal.

Wow, that is great news Jbl. I am so so happy for you.
Yes, you will need to take good care of yourself for months to come, but it is worth it. Your set-backs will get less and less troublesome, and further and further apart as time goes on.
Here's to healing!

:stars: :stars: :stars: :stars: :stars: :stars: :stars:
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

Day 9: Painless BM, a little irritation after. Life is back to normal except still eating fissure-friendly and taking my laxatives.
Day 10: Painless BM, a little irritation after but no big deal. I feel soooo much better. Loving the LIS so far!

This afternoon is my follow-up appointment with my CRS. I am now two weeks post-op. I feel completely normal again. No pain, no discomfort, no irritation after a bm. My husband picked up chinese food yesterday and his fortune read "A new relationship is about to blossom." I joked that I hoped that wasn't true and he said "I'm in a new relationship with my post-anal fissure wife!" :)

I wonder if I should give a gift to my CRS? What do you give someone who changes your life so drastically in the span of two weeks?

Still taking miralax and colace. Finally ate some good food this week, a taco, wine, yum. I'll be back on here after the appointment with the update!

Looking forward to hearing how your appointment goes. I still can't believe how well you've done. I have to say I'm jealous!!! I'm on the same train as Roidsfizzman! Good luck today!

Thanks for your support, guys! It was so nice having this forum as a safe-haven when going through something so miserable. You will heal soon, too, and then we can all celebrate!

Appointment was very uneventful. She looked at my butt and said it looked great. She said I've probably done 80-90% of the healing so far and I can stay on miralax for another month just to be sure. She told me I better not be in the 2% recurrence as she never wants to see me again. She also said this was the first time she'd seen me with a smile on my face. :) I told her she changed my life and gave her a gift card to a fabulous restaurant. I'm going to post about her in the doctors section so others from my area can read a real testimonial.

I'll keep updating here as time passes... we'll see how long it takes for me to return to normal when it comes to eating and worrying. I cannot wait to eat a bowl of popcorn but I'm not ready for that just yet. :)
