i starting using dr wheatgrass once a day, and nitro twice a day, so far so good there. downside is over the past 24 hours i have had diarrhea 6 times, 2-6 hours apart. i think the finger support method is helping. if i didnt have the diarrhea the pain after would be noticeably less than a week ago. i am not on any laxatives. i will go to the doctor this week to get checked for gluten intolerance and IBS. i know i already am lactose intolerant. i feel fine other than the frequent diarrhea. sitting on soft surfaces has gotten easier, but walking and bending over are still difficult.

I'm interested to hear how you go with the wheatgrass. I use it a couple of times a day, mixed with coconut oil.

Hi Student,

I am sorry to hear that you are having a diffucult time. Stay positive and do not let the fissure beat your down as there will be a day that you will recovey and look back on it as part of life.

I deal with IBS from time to time. When I would get diarrhea, I had to stop the stool softner to end the diarrhea. If I did not start up the stool softner again at the correct time with a half or quarter dose, I would get a hard stool and be back at square one with the fissure. I took a less dose to restart the stool softner and increased the dose accordingly because I did not want the diarrhea to start up again. Keeping the stools at the right texture for me is the hardest part of the recovery.

Roids - do you know what foods trigger your IBS? i know everyones different but it may give me some insight.
i havent had the hardest time keeping the stools soft. i had one retear - not back to square 1 - i got cocky and ate pasta. i havent taken a stool softener in about 5 days, but i have been eating wheat-based "sausage" with whole wheat bread. before the fissure i would rarely eat bread at all, just a preference. now there is a whole laundry list of things i cannot eat. i also want to see a dietician.

Hi Student,

For me I do not know what starts the IBS because at times I can eat most foods. When I get a bad bout of IBS, I start up the probiotic Align with some yogurt with my oatmeal in the morning and this helps put me back on track.

citric acid is used as a preservative. There is a lot of citric acid in citrus fruits. I suppose it can all contribute to acidity in your food.

I don't see how using the finger support could cause a fissure in other places, but..............it's always rash to say that such and such CAN'T happen! Still, it does seem unlikely.
Nifedipine/lidocaine, no help
Diltiazem, effective, but caused major rash
Nitroglycerine, effective.
Topical estrogen for final healing.
Gentle heat to bottom - pain relief, muscle relaxant
Kondremul mineral oil
Time - lots of time.
Status - Healed!

well i saw the CRS today, she said the fissure is slightly less, but there is an inflamed skin tag right next to it and also more inflammation in general. i have been having diarrhea every 5 hours or so since saturday morning, so i was referred to a GI specialist. the CRS thinks it might be an infection or Crohn's disease. i might have to get a colonoscopy, which bothers me because i still have the fissure and dont want to tear more. im not feeling well at all

well i got a sigmodoscopy, no sedation, it was not pleasant. i have severe inflammation and malnutrition and was diagnosed with crohn's. :( im not in a good mood. i will be back at the doctor wed for blood tests and next monday to go over the results. as of now i have been put on uceris. i hope it makes the diarrhea less frequent but not firm. my fissure is unhappy from all the diarrhea lately, but firm stools would be worse. when this started i had just begun to notice some improvement in the fissure pain, now it is a step backward.
