Owmybum s flap diary

Postby owmybum » 07 Aug 2014, 11:19

It's 8 days since my flap surgery. I feel like things are going along how they should be.

The first week was hard... I do not respond well to anaesthetic .... Or as it turns out anti sickness meds. I was in recovery having a pretty hard time for over 4 hours. I feel my reaction to the anaesthetic was the main reason I felt so rotten for most of the first week. It was only yesterday really that I felt a bit stronger, and was able to stand by myself and shower without my husband having to stand by to catch me when I keeled over!!

Bum- wise.... I have had pinkish blood steadily leaking since day one. I don't seem to have more blood when I have a bm... Which has completely surprised me.
My anus is puffy, swollen and sore... But that's exactly what I expect after what it's been through. My hem is still angry and huge.

Pain -wise..... The first 3 days or so I would say were pretty painfull.... But after that it's honestly not as bad as I thought it would be! Granted I'm taking it completely easy and laying down all day, but aside from taking a couple of neurofen first thing in the morning before my first bm, it's not bad. It's a bit sore after bm for an hour or so, and I can feel the muscle tightened in response to the injury and the trauma caused by having the bm... But if I rub the bottom of my back ( well.... I actually get my husband to do this!) it really helps to relax things and stop those spasms.

I hope to be charting my progress in this diary so that I, and anyone else can gain something... And that I can hopefully chart my progress.

Thanks!

Today has been a bit more painful. Quite stingy on bm, and I have like a nappy rash where it's always damp with blood/ general wound leakage. I have put some sudocream on and hope it calms down ! I have to keep reminding myself it's early days.

Do they carry Triple Paste diaper rash ointment in the UK? It was the only cream that worked on my girls when they were in diapers. Best of luck!

Thanks guys!
..... No... I haven't seen that brand of ointment.... Sudocream is good though. I used it on my kids... And now on me!!!

Bm was less painfull today. That said, I had a potter in the garden.. 20 minutes max... And I'm suffering for it now.
Yanging!
Discharge is becoming less. It's been a bit too breezy to get my bum out in the garden today.

Pain is around a 4/5

No real difference to report.
I'm just taking a couple of ibuprofen am. Before my bm and that seems to be doing well at taking the edge off. I'm not doing much all day still, so I'm not really getting any pain laying around!
