It's usually just a drop of blood as of late, but today it was a bit more like the poop was dunked in blood (graphic-sorryy!!). It actually hurts less today, as it usually does on days with more blood, because it feels like the tension broke, like a ripped the scar or something...not really sure.

The CRS is doing the surgery. The plastic surgeon is there to identify the best skin to use for the flap, and then to help mobilize the flap. I don't like the idea of a plastic surgeon operating anywhere near my very very important butt muscles, so I plan on telling him explicitly to leave that to my CRS. I personally don't see the value in the plastic surgeon at all, but my CRS insisted so I have to do it this way...

I think having a plastic surgeon to assist is great. They know exactly how to make an incision and stitch to minimize scar tissue. Maybe that will help your recovery go more quickly and smoothly.

I really hope you both have better days ahead!! :smilyhug:

Asdf - I find the same thing. Pain is less when blood is present. Have no idea why.

I think it is because we suffered stenosis from the hemmie operation, i.e. there is very little viable tissue left to heal, and when it does heal it turns to a painful scar which inhibits the normal stretching that is required in that area. The scar inevitably breaks, relieving the tension, and causing a fair amount of fresh blood. The relief in tension brings the pain down, until a new scar develops, and the cycle continues. I am fairly certain this is what is happening, but no CRS has ever confirmed it.

Nothing new to report... Things just the same.

Manuka wound honey
Warm baths now I'm 6 weeks in
Probiotic
1/2 teaspoon of manuka honey ( I found a whole teaspoon upset my tum a bit )

Trying to potter about a bit more, but getting a bit scared when I go out, and the pain starts to sear... I just feel panicky that I need to be home... Near my bed or sofa to lay down!

Any other suggestions as to what I can add??

I think Movicol and Miralax are the same thing and nooooo, can't forget that! It is one of my biggest fears that I will fall asleep one night and forget to take it. It has not happened yet in 2 years but I know I would be in trouble the next morning if I forgot. Sometimes no news is good news and status quo is fine because it is not a step back. I can so relate to leaving the house. I hope you heal soon and won't have to give it a second thought.
asdf - I think you are right. Something has to give and for me right now I think it is still the fissure. But that makes a lot of sense that when the tension is released there is less pain (but of course more blood). Thanks for your thoughts on that. Hope you are maintaining okay. Sending encouragement as you approach your surgery date.

I found this study.... Sounds good... So why have I got an external wound that just won't heal then?

Painful day today. I felt it sting badly on bm. Two steps forwards three steps back.

I have emailed mr w again with more questions, and I think I'm just going to have to send him a picture of it....he needs to see it.

Ugh!!

Yea I read that and a few other studies that have shown flaps to be highly effective...which is why I am wondering why you and I are still having this problem...

Sorry you are still in pain. Has Dr. W at least been replying to your emails? When is your next follow-up with him?
