I'm 3 1/2 weeks post surgery and doing well. The pain and the misery of the previous 6+ months are fading. it's almost forgotten! I sometimes wonder how I got through it all, but I did!
I still have a small discharge but yesterday was the first day that I managed without wearing protection and it was good. Totally minimal pain/discomfort.
Feeling good and hopeful!

Here I am back again, nil issues with fissure or fistula but was left with sentinel piles which really bothered me, Got really sick of not being able to keep myself clean after a bowel motion, messy underwear and just not liking the appearance.

Went back to the CRS and he agreed that they were present, told me that often people come complaining of similar issues and he can barely see the issue. So on Monday I am booked in for them to be removed, calling it a haemorrhoidectony. Have been warned that it will be very painful and a minimum of 2 -3 week recovery period.

Feeling quite nervous actually and hoping that it won't be as bad as I am expecting.

Leanne, it's great to hear your fissure and fistula are cured. Fantastic.
Sorry about your piles. Honestly, I wouldn't have them removed unless they were really terrible. Still, it sounds as though your CRS is good, so I wish you good luck and a rapid recovery!

I have to agree with scientist. If they are not painful, just leave them alone. I have suffered for 3 years after the very same operation. Of course... It's up to you though.

I'm glad to hear everything else has settled down though x

Home now after overnight stay, so the beginning of recovery. Pain, yes but managing. Bowels not open yet and that causes me anxiety as I am hoping the bowel regimen is right. I know it's too early to know just yet. Very tired as not able to sleep in the hospital. Hopefully tomorrow is good.

I'll post now before the situation changes. Woke up this morning with negligible pain even on clenching my bum and very little ooze, so am really happy! However no bowel movement yet post surgery and I'm aware that they might change my situation.I might give him a call this afternoon as I really should have gone by now I think with all the bowel stuff, movicol, fibre supps and I did have a swig of lactulose last night too.

now day 6 post surgery. As expected there has been a lot of pain but today I feel it's definitely reducing, didn't feel like I would die when I had a bowel movement. Tired of taking meds and potions but will continue while it's necessary. Hopefully things continue on the up.
