Approved for Botox

Postby sweetpea » 29 Oct 2014, 11:23

My CRS did a 'finger exam' since i was cramping so much and found a very tiny cut in the posterior line.

I had gone to see her about an LIS but she recommended botox and my insurance gave the OK.

Now i am scared... what to do?

I had botox once before. Had a couple of "accidents" and a little leakage, and other than that, was glad when it wore off!

but now i am having more cramping, it seems? it could be because i was also having dysfunctional bleeding (female thing) - will be getting checked up on that. I think the other problem is that heat usually causes me pain and only ice takes it away so i have to sit on cool things or go into horrible pain.

anyway ... would love input.

I'd prefer not to cut if i don't have to but this has been going on for 3 years. It was pretty much healed when i traveled and bingo! came back, healed, i traveled, came back. (Traveling is horrible for these!) but what can one do? life is chaotic and sometimes life happens.

Thoughts, anyone?

PS i have company coming over that evening. Would i be functional? I really can't recall what happened three years ago when i had the first botox other than it was in office and not that bad.

Hi sweetpea, Im new here and considering LIS surgery. I havent had botox because my 2 surgeons were against it because of the complications and temporary relief. May i ask, if you had the botox before and you keep having recurring episodes, why not LIS surgery? Im in the central valley in california, where are you located? and i was told there was a 94-96% success rate with LIS surgery. I should hear from the surgeons office today to schedule my LIS surgery but i still have questions for the surgeon before that happens.
I wish you well in your search for comfort.

Because of this ^^^^^^ I personally wouldn't do Botox again.

After 3 years I think you should give surgery a serious consideration.

It's a difficult decision, so take your time in choosing.

Hi sweet pea.

I recently had Botox and the evening after I'd had it I was only comfortable when I laid on sofa. Could not sit down. So if company coming over is good friend and you can lounge around then you should be fine (if you were like me) If you need to sit for any period of time then I'd consider cancelling the company.

I had leaks in the first few weeks - had a small mishap last week when I coughed as well. This was inconvenient but not really a huge problem.

As you have been suffering for so long maybe give serious consideration to lis though. Short term pain for long term gain etc etc :)

thanks! i haven't done it yet... still trying to decide. i kind of wish she had recommended LIS but i think it was such a small fissure left, she figured this was the conservative approach.

it was time of the month when the cramping was really bad so i am hoping things will calm down enough to let things heal without anything. we'll see soon enough.

I had Botox done about a month ago... honestly the first few days were really good.. Really no pain during/after BMs but after about a week my pain started to come back and now I'm basically right back to what I was before.

I've been dealing with this for 8 months now and I'm changing up supplements and continuing the cream for another 3 weeks. If I'm not better in 3 weeks, my CRS said it was time to look at LIS.

I don't think Botox can cause any harm?? I really have nothing bad to say about it other than the relief was temporary. I know it has healed some on this board though.

Sweetpea, If you get Botox cancel your dinner. There is no way to tell for sure how you will feel. The more rest you can give yourself the better. I had Botox and the first 10 days were no pleasure. It took me a full 3 plus months to heal. I had no leakage, but did pass gas with a lack of control. Good Luck..
