Still feeling very swollen and sore today. Bms have firmed up a little, and I only had one today. Phew.

Been resting up in bed again. I'm hoping things start to calm down in the next couple of days.
I'm holding off on the diltiazem until I'm less swollen and can bare to touch down there.

I'm still very bruised down there. I tried the diltiazem again... And it felt like it burnt a layer of skin off!!

I have had a busy day today, and now I'm extremely sore. Bruised sore and fissure sore.

Ugh.

Sorry to hear that OMB. Sure makes me wonder what those Doctors do down there that makes things so sore for so long. DH is so surprised to see that I still have bruising...2.5 weeks after my LIS!

Yeh... The bruising is really painful. As mine is starting to go down I can see the blackest bits are where the clamps were put either side. I really don't remember being so bruised for other surgeries.... But then when I had my flap I was too scared to look for the first month!

I hope you start healing better soon!

Update.
I'm afraid to say I have no improvements. The bruising gradually went down. I still have some there, at 4 weeks post op.
I'm still suffering daily fissure pain. It's really quite painful. On looking, things don't look as bad as they were, but I can't explain why I still continue to live with this god awful pain. It is really starting to take its toll on me.
I asked mr w for nifedipine ... But it is not licenced for use over here. I have an appointment with him on 16 th jan... So not too long to wait. I am starting to get very discouraged about my whole situation, and every procedure seems to send me further and further back. I'm at a loss now for what can be done for me.

I'm sorry this is not a positive update.... I really wish it were!

I'm so sorry OMB. I can relate to your comment on the more you do the worse things seem to get. What is your Doctor suggesting you do now? That's a shame that nifedipine cannot be licensed there. I wonder why... Are you not able to use nitro?

Hi OMB,

I did continue to read all your updates, and my final though it the only one. If you experience pain from fissure(which means quite painful sensations in 30 mins after BM, lasting up to 6-8 hours), I would tell that it is only muscle reacting on foreign microbes, providing pain and non healing due to spasm. I know you did pressure tests, and they didn't confirm the same. I would think you should take Chrons path to investigate, but it was tested also as I remember.

To summarize fissure pain - is not fissure pain, it is spasm whatever you say.

If you have spasms, you need LIS. I think you should insist on that. That is only procedure you didn't complete, but it is looks as gold standard and main resolution for most of the cases. I may sound strong, but I am really sorry for the situation and want you to heal so much!

Omb, how are you doing? Is it the fissure itself- burning and sore, or the muscle spasm and soreness that bring you pain? As much as fissures suck- it is always the muscle that is worst for me- even after 2 lis

Thanks guys.
Pin pin.... No I haven't been tested for crohns. Xx

I'm just not sure where all this burning pain is coming from. It feels like a lit cigarette up my bum, right where the fissure is, but when I look, the fissure looks so much better than it was, I can't understand why it hurts so much. Maybe it's the scar tissue? Maybe it's the nerves? I have no idea. Maybe it's the muscle?? Ugh.
I have had pressure test that shows I have a normal sphincter resting pressure, so no one will give me LIS.

Hi owmybum. Don't panic. After my flap surgery I had on and off burning for almost a year. It gets better. Dilation helped with that and so did time. Sounds like your doctor may have made the flap too small. My flaps were pretty big to give the skin room to stretch after they healed. It's been quite a journey. In April it will be 2 years for me. If I could give any advise to someone out there wondering what to do I'd say don't wait to see a doctor and don't wait to have surgery. The longer you wait the longer you suffer and the more damage you do to your behind. If you don't like the answers you're getting from your doctor see someone else. You're the one in the drivers seat so to speak and don't give up. Sending a prayer your way. Suzy
